Question about Apple MacBook 13"White /2.0Ghz Intel Core2 Duo White/2GB (2x1gb)/80GB/SuperDrive (Z0DT) Mac Notebook

1 Answer

MacBook I bought my macbook from BestBuy, purchased insurance and all. I just have a quick question. My computer does not let me change the name of a file that I have previously saved on it. For example I saved a word file but would like to go back into the disk drive and change the name by just adding an "s" and it doesn't allow me to do that. It acts as if the keyboad is locked, whereas before I could just double click the file name, it would flash and I could change the name.

What about if the problem is with all files not just Word files?

  • JillV Apr 22, 2008

How would I know if I have file sharing on? If I do, how do I turn it off?

    Sorry :(

This was a problem that happended when Microsoft first put out officeX. The problem was random and the easy fix but not a solution without a upgrade is open the doc and do a save as. Also changing the folder the Doc sits in will let you do it.

You have a setting locking the files sometimes this happens if you have file sharing turned on. Also look in system, security and make sure file vault is turned off unless you need it. One other thing is look at your privileges as a user and make your you have full privileges.

Open the system preferences and look for the sharing folder. Open it up and see what if anything is being shared. Also did you look to see if your account has full privileges? You can also create a new account with full accesses and test changing files under that account. If you can then you have set read only privileges under the other user. You can delete the account you created anytime you want. I have 2 accounts on all my machines 1 being me and the other called test user. Then if I mess something up and need to get something done before I figure out what I did I just switch users for the time being.

Why does my MacBook Air keep telling me that my facebook account is locked?

This may have more to do with your Facebook account than with your MacBook itself. Try signing into Facebook from another computer using your user name and password. If your account is OK, change your password. Go back to your macBook and log in with your news password. I have the problem with my Ipad sometimes. Often Facebook will send you a message apologizing for problems logging in. Try logging in from that message.

MacBook Pro

It is possible, nonetheless you would have to do something before taking your mac, or any product, to a store.

1- Go to bestbuy.com and all the way to the bottom of the site.
2- Under product support you will find a link named Trade In center.
3- Click on it (because that's what links are for).
4- Answer the questions and voila.
5- Print the certificate.
