Question about Sony Dvcam DSR-PD150 DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

My video camcorder picture is yellow. It looks like you have put a yellow ilter in front of the lens and the color is so intence that it cannot be filtered back to normal in adobe premiere for example. What has happened? Can a service ajust the RGB balance or is the CCD broken?

I've read the article and it does not seem to be my problem. Here is how the picture looks. The walls should be white.

Hi,

Before we proceed, wanted to have few details :-

1. How old is the unit?
2. Is this an intermittent or a permanent problem?
3. If you play the saved Video's or images, is that also looks yellow ?

Let me know,so that we could proceed.

Thanks!!

Hi and thanks for your quick response.

The Camcorder is from 2003 and has worked perfect until some days ago

Yes, the problem is permanent and it is definitely not the LCD since it you get the same result when you capture the film and watching old films in the camera looks good on the LCD.

The color bar looks also good.

    Thanks for your response!!

If you could see an the saved video's very well without any problem, this is highly suggestive of Faulty CCD Sensor.

This model is under recall for CCD sensor. As of now, i am not sure, whether they would honor this or if they could offer you discount on repair. The recall was in 2006. You could refer :-

You could try to Call Sony and discuss the same.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Tv is yellow orange color what is problem

The model indicated does not have a "bulb" as it uses 3 picture tubes.

Examine the picture with color set at zero---stand back and look= if the screen has a mostly yellow (all or part of the screen) you have bad Glycol in the blue picture tube(if need explanation ask) and a look in the lens of the Blue tube will confirm this.

If able with back off and a small mirror look in each lens--red picture, green picture and blue picture.

If the Blue looks like a floodlight with little or no image--bad glycol in that tube.

My tv screen when on turns yellow then after a while it will switch back to normal colors what can be wrong with it....

Televisions covered: all Projection with yellow picture, but not Projection TVs with a yellowish tint surrounding objects in a nearly normal picture.

Yellow = red + green
normal picture = red + blue + green (RGB). See illustration.

Fig. 1 Additive color mixing in an RGB monitor, or RGB Projection TV.

The circuitry powering your blue output, or the blue light engine itself is starting to fail.

Operating Theory:

The lamp module shines a bright light into the optical unit; there are a series of lens and baffles, and at the top of the light engine, a lens puts the picture into a mirror which is reflected onto the screen; All video and color is processed thru the light engine. Blue most commonly fails first, leaving a yellow picture.

On the front of the Camcorder there you open up just under the lens on the left if you are looking at the lens. There you see a small socket with a label A/V. You use an av cable which comes with a headphone type of plug (but not quite) on one end three phono cables on the other which will be colored yellow, red and white. The yellow goes to the video and the white and red for sound.

My guess is that you were shooting indoors, the light balance is off; Why! can be caused by many varibles; pull out the manual to see if there is a manual ajustment for incondesent light to daylight. Check battery, lens for obstruction, lint can mess thing up, and the camera flood light if you have one. make sure all are in good order, beyond that 'service center'.

When camcorder is turned on the screen shows red or yellow screen

I have the same problem of picture distortion when recording on my PV-GS200 camcorder. It's due to a faulty CCD block, which you can read about on various websites. I can play back pre-CCD failure tapes without a problem. Panasonic recalled quite a few GS200 camcorders with specific serial numbers in the US and Canada, and replaced the faulty 3-CCD chip free of charge. I just discovered this tonight and intend to ring Panasonic tomorrow, as the camcorder - bought new - lasted only two years before the CCD fault became apparent. Obviously, the camcorder was not of merchantable quality.

Do you have a replacement cord between your tv and camcorder that you can try?

There probably is a short in the yellow cord causing the picture to go to B & W.

In camera mode if you look through the lens and have a black picture with the message lens cap on and you see that the iris is opening up and there are no bad connections to the ccd then the imager is suspect. Your snowy playback picture problem may just require a clearing however.
