If you get a DVD drive with disk and the disk is a pre 2006 generation DVD, it will cause your PCM to shut down with "Overheat Protection" warning. Its not overheating, its an error of running too old a disk in the car.
Yes there is a TSB issued on this - 0511/9112, dated 6/22/05. Press MAIN and TRIP buttons at the same time and you will find the software versions of all the components discovered on the ring.
PCM's going up to version 2.1 accepts the last DVD dated 10/2004 (also known as Model Level A). PCM's at version 3, 3.1 and beyond (basically cars built from 04.2005 onwards) should use DVD's dated 04/2005 and thereafter.
