Hi terry44,
Try this first. Open the case. Please ground your self by touching any metal surface. Than place your hand on the hard disk drive. Do not hold the underside. Start the PC & continue to hold & listen. You mentioned the system runs for a short time, let’s see if it will crack & shut down while you’re touching the drive.
We want to see if the system still shuts down & you hear that crack. If it’s the hard disk drive you will feel it as well as hear it.
If you feel like the crack came from the hard disk drive than replace the drive because its going to die. Your thoughts about the board could be correct. With the case opened you should be able to pin down where the crack is coming from.

Let me know if this helped & what you found.
Get back to me.
Good Luck!

Mike

Why do the computer shout off after two min: 's of running is something wrong with the power cord or what whats happening

Generally, if a system runs for a short period of time then shuts down, it is a Hardware issue (Usually overheating or bad RAM)

Setup with AX4sg-UN Motherboard won't boot into win7

Have you tried booting into safe mode? If the hdd was preloaded with Windows 7, it's trying to use the old drivers to the old board. I've ran into this same problem when I tried to move a preloaded hdd to a different mobo. Do you still have your Windows 7 disc?

MB starts up, CPU fan runs, after 5 seconds, one beep and MB off

It appears that the system is shutting down without you telling it to.
If it does this at a given time interval, the problem is most likely heat.
Can you boot the system with a start-up disk (a system disk) and have it keep running?
Your heat problem can be in the CPU or in the power supply. Have you checked the power supply fan to see if it's running?
Have you removed the heat sink and reapplied a good thermal grease?

Aopen ax34 tamper alarm--how to reset????

I don't think that board actually has a tamper alarm in the bios, password security yes but I saw no mention of a tamper alarm. Besides, a tamper alarm won't stop the pc from booting, it just lets you know that the case has been opened....sorry. I think you likely have a mainboard/ram issue.

First thing is to clear the bios. Here's how. Right beside the floppy connector, there is a jumper labeled 'JP14'. Please do the following

  1. Turn off the pc and remove the ac power cord.
  2. Remove the atx power connector from the mainboard (from power supply).
  3. Locate jp14 and move the jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pins 2 and 3. Wait 10 seconds.
  4. Put jp14 back to pins 1 and 2
  5. Reconnect the atx power connector.
Or you can just unplug it from the waal and remove the bios battery for an hour.
sa code
Try to fire it up again. If it still won't boot, then let me know the number of beeps it makes and the pattern to the beeps ie: one long beep then another long beep or 1 long beep then 2 short ones. These beep are actually telling you what the problem is.

Hope this helps! Post a comment and let me know how you make out.
