Question about Audio & Video Receivers

I have a denon ucd-250 cd player. LCD is flashing on an off and the unti isn't otherwise working. My guess is probably the PSU board has failed. Anyone know of any common component failures on this model

Checked all IC protectors ICP-N15 on the power board and found that the one on the +10V rail (IC654) had popped to 10k ohm resistance. Replace it and all is ok

What is the best way to attach a Sony SCD CE595 CD player SACD to a Denon AVR 2105 Receiver. I thought the optical input would be best but according to a web posting, toslink does not support SACD

That is correct. Digital connections through some models of SACD players are via "firewire", otherwise it is analog output. There are no optical connections.

The shortest pair of RCA cables, or even component video cable as an alternative will work.

Noise coming out of speakers connected to Denon AVR 1908

Check for nearby wireless devices and move them away. -If the audio output from the source device (i.e. DVD, CD player) is digital (i.e. PCM, DTS or Dolby Digital) you're on your own. I'd be willing to bet the output is analog (red and white RCA), because the "beeps" and "exploding sounds" you describe seem like it could be caused by interference. Try replacing the cables. Otherwise the issue is probably with your receiver.

Connecting two mulitchannel devices into one receiver

I guess you could try y cable adapters for input on the Denon. Might get messy. Try radio shack and pick up 5 y cables for the speakers and 1 for the sub. Someone probably makes an audio switcher that handles that as well.

I have a Denon 1650 CD player. Denon doesn't carry the parts to repair it. (Scratchy sound on all CD's). Are there aftermarket parts anywhere? Thanks Ray Durr

Based upon your description, the problem is most likely either the D/A converter IC or a bad audio output transistor/opamp. Without seeing the unit, remote diagnosis is just a guess. The IC should be available generically. Can you post a photo of the board? If I can see what is in there, I can point you to the suspect parts. I don't have a service manual for this one.

Denon AVR 1705-no audio on TV

I have had the same problem and was told that it is a "board" inside. Essentially it has lost the surround sound ability and can only play things in Direct/Stereo. Mine is just over 2 years and I originally thought my kids had hit a button on the thing causing the issue...ended up paying $100 to trouble shoot it and confirm that it is internal and more expensive to fix than replace. Can't say that I will be buying a Denon again.
