There aren't 2 separate drives, you have 2 partitions on the same drive/hard disk.
If you want more space all you have to do is to move or delete files. Plug in the external hard disk and it will appear as a new partition in My Computer - just cut paste files to it.

Hello, What cable or adaptor do I need to transfer all data from the hard disk of my Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 to my new laptop via USB port? Thanks.

You won't be able to transfer hard drive data by plugging one computer into another via USB. In order to transfer data, you will need to remove the hard drive from the Toshiba Satellite Pro, use an external hard drive enclosure, and attach that to your new computer with any USB cable.
The hard drive can be taken out by removing screws on the bottom of your laptop. The drive can be found in the bottom left of this picture: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/big/toshiba-satellite-a200-a205-02.jpg
Here is an example of the exclosure you would need: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817816013

Installed vista on toshiba laptop. downloaded recovery disk from identical laptop. can't recover original laptop data

There's a couple options.
You can purchase acronis and do a full Drive backup to another hard drive, then restore to the new one.
If you just need data, no programs, you can purchase a 2.5" USB to SATA enclosure for $9, take out the other computer's drive, pop it in the adaptor, plug it into the new computer and simply copy the data.

Error : 10-FC12-0570 when i try to reinstall with the cds

Error 10-FC12-0570 on Toshiba satellite This error message means that the recovery utility was not able to read the data from the disc correctly, or wasn't able to write it to the hard drive.
The problem could be with the disc, the CD/DVD drive or the hard drive.

Solution:

Try copying the second disc using another system. If it's impossible: order for a new disc. If you can copy it, try using the copy to do the restore.

Try using a third party disk checker to verify the problem, is or is not, with the hard drive.

The best way would be to load the Windonws Vista discs, format the pc and reinstall.
(Vista Recovery Boot Cd is available free by Microsoft). Download it burn the Image .iso and run that disc. That disc will not restore the OS: run diagnostics on the HDD; once disk check is completed and repaired, proceed with the Recovery disks that you have.

Toshiba A100 will not automatically save data to the 2nd drive

Close all documents and running programs. Locate your Documents Folder on your C: Drive. Right Click and select Properties. Change Taget Folder Location by replacing C: with E:, then click OK. Answer Yes to move all of the files from the old location to the new location. This will migrate all Documents to E:, and set the save path to this drive by defualt. Thus freeing space on drive C: and leaving it for applications and updates only. You may also want to run the Disk Cleanup utility to free even more space from drive C:.

Got a toshiba satellite laptop with windows vista basic loaded. bought a new lexmark printer , copier scanner not enough memory to load software

Thats why people are reverting back to windows xp because vista eats up root memory like anything. I'd suggest you to remove few games or useless files from your root directory and perform a cleanup of you root drive.

I am coming up with error 10-fc12-0570 on the toshiba satellite a215-s7422 i used the both recovery disk and this was the error code

The error message is telling you that the recovery utility was not able to read the data from the disc correctly, or wasn't able to write it to the hard drive. The problem could be with the disc, the CD/DVD drive or the hard drive.

but usually error 10-FC12-0570 is pertaining to a bad HDD or memory

First, try copying the second disc using another system. If you can't copy it, order replacements from Toshiba Customer Assistance: 1-800-457-7777. If you can copy it, try using the copy to do the restore.
You can try using a third party disk checker to verify the problem is or is not with the hard drive. But since the system is under warranty, you're going to have to arrange to have it repaired anyhow, so it may not be worth the effort to verify whether it's the hard drive or CD/DVD drive. It's probably not the CD/DVD drive since you got all the way through the first disc. Contact a Premier (not regular) ASP for service from here: http://pcrepair.toshiba.com

The best way would be to load the Win Vista discs n format the pc...and reinstall...iam telling this because u have a tried the recovery disk as well....

I know most users will not have the Vista CD with you but the Vista Recovery Boot Cd is available free by Microsoft just google...

Download it burn the Image .iso and run that disc. Since that disc will not restore the OS all it does it lets u run diagnostics on ur HDD and allows u to install the OS. Once disk check is completed and repaired, proceed with the Recovery disks that you have.

thank you
have a nice day

Sir, Iam using toshiba Satellite L45-S7423 model laptop.already this laptop contain windows vista. i want to instal Windows XP.can you please help me how can i install Windows XP and how can i download...

I RUN BOTH XP AND VISTA ON THE SAME SYSTEM YOU ARE BEST TO PARTITION THE DRIVE AND PUT THEM IN SEPERATE SECTIONS, I USE XP FOR KIDS OLDER LEARNING PROGRAMS WITH 256 RESOLUTION AND UPTODATE PC ON VISTA SIDE. AFTER FDISK FORMATING DRIVE I FIRST INSTALLED XP IN PARTITION THEN UPGRADED WITH FRESH INSTALL OF VISTA TO SEPERATE DRIVE , WHEN BOOTS ASKS YOU WHICH START UP SYSTEM YOU NEED N U LOAD DRIVERS IN NORMAL WAY AND GET DRIVERS OFF INTERNET , U CAN USE VISTA SETUP TO GET DRIVERS PUT ON DONGLE THEN RELOAD ON XP AND LOAD DRIVERS.

YOU WILL HAVE TO ADD A PARTITION TO YOUR DRIVE IF GOT SPACE AND DONT WANT TO START FRESH.
THEN SEE IF XP CAN BE LOADED ONTO IT ILL TRY IT ON MY SYSTEM TO C IF LET U GO BACKWARDS RATHER THAN UPDATING
