    Thanks. Now first of all let's try to install the Lan Card Drivers.

    Open this link (click here to open acer home page)

    and click;

    As soon as you click the "Arrow" tab, you'll see drop-down lists like this;

    Move down your mouse to "Lan Driver Realtek Ver 5....." and select it. Download will automatically begin. You'll need winzip or winrar to extract the driver files. It may take few minutes depending on the speed of your connection. The size of the file is 4.8mb.

    After the download's completed, extract the files to a folder (create a new folder and name it as you'll remember when needed). In the new folder, locate the "Setup" file and run it. Follow the onscreen instructions and click "finish" when installation is completed.

    If this isn't successful, please let me know.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

    Hi, I seem to have further problems now, I did do as you asked and downloaded the acer Lan program onto my PC, now when it says restarting your PC it turns off, but when starting up again I get the normal acer screen where it says at the bottom of the page "Press F2 to go to settings then I get another window opens which tells me to press F1 to resume or F2 for settings, then after pressing F1 another window opens telling me to start Windows normally or last known best settings etc, so I press open windows normally, then windows window opens up and does nothing just freezes and I have to turn off the laptop by the switch, and having repeated that a few times I just get the same set up, so I left it for a couple of hours then on repeating everything again and clicking F1 to resume and then start windows normally windows opens, but when you close windows and try to start it again the same thing happens.

    Is it because I might have loaded things on twice as I have been to the acer site before on re-installing windows, and downloaded all the necessary downloads needed, and by the way, although I can get a menu saying what wireless internet connections are available and then loading my own on it connects to BT but still will not let me on the internet, as when I put the BT disc in it comes up that my pc has not got wireless connection or I have not got an adapter fitted in my laptop, yet I used to get on the internet before with this same laptop, I hope you can help. Thank you.

    What has happened with your advice, since doing as you asked I have big problems now as I wrote last time, but now it seems you are ignoring me, and I really would like to get my laptop back on track, because all it is doing at the moment is frezzing on the windows opening page, and there it stays.

    Thank you URGENT

    I am sorry for the late reply. I wasn't able to come online since yesterday as I was travelling. Well, the problem could be drivers conflict. Had you install any Lan drivers before....? Well, there's nothing much to worry, let's do it like this.

    Power on your System, press F1 when as and then press F8 several times, you'll be directed to the Advanced Boot Options, from there, select Safe Mode (you can also try "Safe Mode with Network"), and follow the onscreen instructions, (loading may take some time with black screen and white texts). If you see any message, give positive inputs. Now uninstall the Lan drivers, run a registry cleaner and restart your system in Normal Mode and reinstall the drivers. (you can download a registry cleaner from this link if you don't have one)

    If this doesn't work, again boot into Safe Mode and restore your system to previous state (date) after it's successful, install the Lan driver. This will definitely fix your problem.

    If you have further problem, let me know.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

    Hi well I have tried all you said, I could not see what I had to do when I clicked safe mode, because all that happened was a black screen with white writing and it did nothing only stay there until I switched it off, I can load an wireless network on such as BTHomeHum-D2C4 but it will not put me on the internet for some reason, and all I get is something saying cannot find net adapter, yet I have loaded the drivers down for Atheros wireless adapter and Broadcom wireless adapter, but it still says it cannot find the net adapter? according to my device manager the only other thing that has not loaded is something called PCI as there are two yellow question marks by the side of these items in device manager, does this help at all.?

    thank you for your help.

    I am sorry, I thought this questions had been passed to another expert few days back so I didn't respond your posts as I thought they were for the other expert. Well, I opt out.. I am sorry that I can't give you better solution. I could only wish you good luck. But please note, all the posts you sent to me will not show up to other the other experts, only to me and you. And same thing with anther expert, I will not be able to see his/her posts. Most users got confused with this and they are frustrated explaining the problem again and again. FixYa does this because, every expert should bring up a unique solution without copying others'.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

Reloaded windows xp and now i am unable to connect

Hi, First option is to locate the Drivers and Utility Disks that came with your computer and use it to re-install all drivers; especially the one that allows you to connect to the network / internet service. Second option is to go to a computer (maybe a cafe) that is connected to the Internet, go to the support page of your computer manufacturers website, download the essential drivers you need, save them to a USB / Flash disk and then go install on your own computer.

In addition to installing the operating system (Windows XP) you will need to install the drivers for the system.  If you system is a Dell Dimension 1100 you can get the drivers from this link:

Driver installation order is:
Desktop system software (R121089.exe) Intel Chipset Utility (R96614.exe) Intel Video Driver (R104515.exe) Audio Driver (R105155.exe) Network Driver (R105786.exe) Modem Driver (R133743.exe or R73044.exe)
Once you have all the drivers installed, then you can install your applications and configure your internet connection.
