SOURCE: I/O error FDU80

Dear Enryc2 I don't know if you have found a solution already but this is what I tried. If this is your bootup drive, disconnect all other drives, eg., CDRom/DvDRW, FDD, USB drives and try to bootup. You may also try to update your BIOS(only if you know how to).

SOURCE: Drive not being recognized

Have you tried this in another PC with, say, WinXP? If it worked then it may be 1 of 2 problems:
1) Driver Issue- you may use a compatible driver and not necessarily a "Fantom" driver. WinME needs drivers for these devices unlike WinXP
2) The USB port is not giving enough power to the drive for it to run (a problem common in older PCs). I have an external USB harddisk that needs to use 2 USB ports in my old Dell laptop since 1 USB port can't supply the power it needs. The cable should have a dual-USB jack on one end, this is so you could use the power from the other USB port.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: server can't detect USB hard drive

Hello, Assuming you're running windows 200 or newer, no drivers required. If it is not detecting in device manager the shell is likely damaged and simply needs to be replaced. If it does show up, and the drive does not the the drive is likely damaged and you will most likely require professional help recovering the files. If the latter is the case please state you location(country and city) and I will recommend an appropriate facility to assist you. Chris

SOURCE: how does a external USB SATA drive dock

The Solution: ... IT WORKS REALLY ...

Point 1: Remove power from the mains.

Item 2: The device from your PC, remove the USB plug.

Point 3: The USB Titanium External Hard Disc Enclosure Open, just the screws of the housing, with a special wrench to open.
The drive from the connector of the USB connector for one minute to remove, then the hard drive with the connector of the USB connection,
connect together.

Point 3: The hard disk into the housing insert all the screws screw.
PLEASE precisely again check that all connections are properly connected.

Power to the drive plug the USB connector from the HDD to the PC or notebook is already running and the hard drive, as before, during initial installation of the device.

So everything supper dooper easy ...

The disk-drive inside the enclosure is problematic.
Open the enclosure, to get the model-number and serial-number from the label on the disk-drive.
Then, access Fantom's web-site, to check the warranty-status of the drive. If the warranty still is valid, they will replace it, at minimal cost to you.
If the warranty has expired, purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and transplant it into the enclosure, to "resuscitate" your device.

Connect it to a different computer. If it still is not detected, then there is a hardware problem. Exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

I have a Fantom Drives Titanium II 500GB external drive that cannot be seen by my computer. I receive the error USB Device is Not Recognized. I've tried it on a different computer with the same problem. ...

It's all about the drivers. Just go to the manufacture's website, go to download or support tab, download the drivers. Then once they are downloaded, double-click on the file so it installs itself into your pc, then restart pc and you should be good to go.

I can not locate a driver for my Fantom Titanium II (TFD500C16) 500 GB USB Hard Drive. Do you know where?

Your device should not need drivers Fte Fantom/Titanium drives are fully supported by both Windows and Mac OS's.
Try replacing the cable or using a different USB port.
Sorry I cannot be of more help, The drive itself may be damaged, You can test this by physically removing the drive itself from the case and installing it internally to your system....If the drive functions properly, then the problem is within the board inside the casing.

yes you can but whether that would make it work or not is a different story.

It depends if the hard drive is still working or not however it would test for certain whether it is working or not.
