the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

We are getting a Comms Error 0030 every time a fax is incoming. What does this mean and how can we stop it?

Are you receiving faxes only from one place? This error indicates that your machine is not receiving the "handshake" from the other machine. It knows a call came in and sent a request to the other machine for parameters, but did not receive a response.

If this happens with all incoming faxes, your machine may need to be serviced.

Incoming faxes not coming thru, fax says "line error". How do I fix it?

There is a problem in handling the signals, usually it happens in handshaking. There are some error in the protocols. You have to ask a technician (you did not specify the brand of your machine), chance is, signal levels can be adjusted to as well as the communication speed.

My fax machine MFC7420 can not recieve any faxes but I can fax out? Please help ASAP. Erica 514-940-3645

There could be many reasons why your MFC won't receive faxes. 1) MFC may not be set to answer incoming calls, 2) Call is answered by voicemail (or answering machine), before MFC is programmed to answer, 3) Incoming ring line voltage is insufficient for MFC to detect. Check the first 2, as those will be simplest. You can check the 3rd, but you'll need another fax machine to do so (if it receives, then your MFC should receive). Let me know what you find out.

Cancelling Incoming Faxes in Memory

see manual (can be download from homepage www.brother.com). If you are a victim of spam faxes you better buy a new mfc with a pc-fax-incoming-transmission function (e.g. mfc 440cn etc.) This will give you the opportunity to have a look at the faxes on the screen first and then to decide which one should be printed.

Mfc-5460cn

Please tell us what machine do you really have:
Is it a mfc 420cn or a mfc 5460cn?

Did you have a paperjam before getting the error?
This might be due to the paperjam.

Ill try to give you some more help but need more info...

Fax problem

I guess you run win xp.

Did you install the whole mfl-pro suite? If not, do so. Check the installation by clicking installation check within the brother programm (start/progr./brother/installation check).

After a good installation press start/progr./brother. There you will find a pc-fax set-up. With that you can fax out of your pc thru the mfc.

If you want to receive fax on your pc you have to change settings within the machine . see handbook software which is part of the installation software cd how to do the right settings (chapter I 6 pc-fax)
