Question about Computers & Internet

My OS is Microsoft 2000 Professional. How can I stop some programs from starting automatically when I turn on my computer? So many programs are starting that my computer is running very slowly. I am having to go into Task Manager> Processes to stop the drain on my resources. Please help.

Welcome to FixYa

Sir,

You can Stop Programs from Startup or from Booting.

GO to Start > Run >Type 'Msconfig' > GO to Startup tab >Disable all or You can Tick or Unpick Programs you needed or not

If Msconfig Utility is Not Working in your Operating System- Download it from here

After unzipping the file, place the "msconfig.exe" file in the "C\Windows\System32" folder and run it[OR Simply Run it]..DISABLE ALL from START UP Tab is better to Increase your Speed...

Now you are Done............
Hope you got it....Thanks for Contacting FixYa....

If you installed Office 2007, it configures itself as the program to be used to "open" any 'DOC' files.

If Word 2000 is still installed, start it.
Then, use 'File' and 'Open' to select & read your file from your USB flash-drive.

Changing an os

as it is illegal to use pirate software, it is possible to make it a legal copy, it will cost around £90-£100, for a liceice code, or you can download anti-genuine authentication tools of the net to make your copy look guenuine!

H D Audio Driver fails to install

Have you checked to see if the driver is already installed, and the volume is just turned down? (Start> programs > accessories > entertainment > volume control) If so, try going into Device Manager (right click My Computer > properties > hardware > device manager) See if the sound card is showing up there as a yellow question mark or other error icon, it will stand right out. If it's there, right click, and uninstall it. Now (still in device manager) press the button that looks like a computer screen with a magnifying glass on it, that will scan for hardware changes and pick up the sound card, which windows includes the driver for automatically. If this still doesn't work, try downloading from realtek here, and installing that. Hope this helps.
