SOURCE: picture problem on mitsubishi medallion ws 55819

Well I have a Mitsubishi WS-65413 65 in. Rear Projection Television and when I power it on in the morning it looks as if the picture on the bottom of the screen is bending and parts of the picture "double up" but like the person above me said after it gets warmed up it goes back to normal but every 3 or 4 hours it might get messed up for a min...Anyways: Is it the picture tube going out?? If so how does anyone know how much it would cost to repair/replace & What is a "Convergence Module"?? I don't know if my T.V has one of those or not but if it doesnt is that the problem perhaps?? Please help me or ill be forced to go outside... :-( ..... thanx 4 the help ppl!! -

SOURCE: convergence problem

If all you replaced were the ICs, then you need to check the area for small pico fuses that are probably open as well. These are inline with the power supply to the ICs. They may be marked as F9A01 through F9A06. Replace these as needed and update this with your results.

Thanks,
Dan

SOURCE: TV will not come on

The flashing LED may be telling you the source of the problem; note the relative spacing of the flashes and the number of times it flashes before staying off. The set is trying to tell you where it is sick but I suspect it is related to the power supply; the most common failure point of most modern sets. If you post back here as a 'comment' you won't have to repeat your symptoms.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi Medallion 1080 WS-55413 - colors not aligned

There is no "reset" as the set has in the customer and tech menus ways to attempt to manually adjust this.

under convergence in the customer menu select advanced and follow the instructions on the screen.

If Red or Blue or Green are skewed and will not adjust it means one of the two STK-394-250 CONVERGENCE chips this set uses is bad.

Depending on where you buy them they will range in price from about 12 dollars each to nearly 35 dollars each.

Let me know what you find; this may or may not be a do it yourself repair as some real expertise is required to correctly get at and replace the chips.

Mitsubishi WS-A55 with a 2-3 error code

SD Tech - I have the error code 22 on my WS-A55. Power light comes on and then quickly shuts off. Looked at circuit board - there was greenish "gunk" on two of the electronic parts on the board in the center (behind the speaker grill) in the area labelled R5A62. Would you be so kind as to post repair instructions and the name of parts seller you mentioned above? Thanks!!!

My 55 inch Mitsubishi is 8 years old. when I turn it on the picture is distortedand blury. After about 20 minutes the problem goes away. Can this issue be fixed aon a set of this age or should it be...

IT MAY BE A CONVERGENCE PROBLEM, see some photos and let me know if anything like your problem.

If convergence you will see it better by going into the menu and selecting first convergence, then advanced---this will bring up a grid of lines--should be yellow with no red or blue out of place.

Good news: if this problem it can be a do it yourself repair--I have start to finish, step by step instructions for this repair in this set.

Let me know what you find and I will assist you.

If this told you something you did not know, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

your convergence circuit has started giving trouble .... normal thing after a few years running for projection televisions ...... could be that the convergence IC's are getting too hot (two big IC's on a heast sink bearing an STK number on it) or that you have some loose soldering that needs to be resoldered on them.... worth the check

My mitsubishi ws-65809 will not power up.

Mine is doing the same thing. I just talked to the repair guy. It is a power supply problem. Try unplugging it for 5 minutes and turning it back on. Also if you were having problem with any picture issues it is the convergance, and that requires chip replacement. They are estimating $350.00 to replace the power supply.

MITSUIBISHI WS-A55

Joe,
In most cases the shutdown in those units is due to convergence not the digital module. Check the foil side of the convergence Ic's 801 and 802 for ring cracks in their connection to the board. You may need to replace them if you don't find a ring crack problem or re-soldering doesn't work.

TV screen goes blank but power stays on

Sounds like the CRTs are going into protective blanking due to the vertical output ic needing to be resolderd. Try resoldering the vertical IC that may possibly fix the issue.

I would try soldering your convergence amp ICs. Mitsubishi has had some issues with sparse solder at the ICs Dress up the solder a bit and see if this helps. If not you will no doubt need to replace the ICs there are two of them and they cost about 10.00 each. Let me know if you need anything further.
