While pc is booting hold F8 Until you see a selection screen where you can select safe mode.
Select safe mode then while in safe mode login as administrator which is default account and only appears while in safe mode, And then run the scan while in safe mode that way no processes will obstruct the anti virus's scanning.

Tried that already. The F-security program will not start up. The hour glass comes up for a second then nothing happens.

If I stop scan (it is still in the process) will it allow me to get rid of the 44 viruses found and then I can rerun the scan for additional viruses?

Ok, Well you may need to use another anti virus to remove the virus which is causing the problem
install AVG FREE And then repeat the safe mode process and scan for any virus's

Make sure avg fully updates first before scanning to ensure all known virus's are removed.

  • Marc Schumer Jul 18, 2010

Already ran Avg. I'll try it a gain in admin/safemode and see what happens.

Acer Aspire One CPU goes to 100% way too often.

The RAM is the processing memory of the CPU. The system is probably hitting 100% RAM use because you have malware that is running in the background. A less likely case is that you have so many jobs automatically loaded at startup that memory is being accessed to handle all the different processes. I would suggest loading a good malware cleaner like MalwareBytes and running a system scan. If you have a number of malware items (I have had users with as many as 1500 malware items or as few as 2 malware items), the system will be bogged down because the items are running activities in the background. The malware scan should help identify the malware items and offer the option to delete the items (as always make sure you have backed up critical files before running a scan and removing malware items). After removing the malware items (if any exist) and rebooting your system, you should notice an increase in system speed and a reduction in static-period RAM use. As a side note, cleaning the system will not guarantee prolonged periods of trouble-free RAM processing. Malware tends to come from obscure Internet sites that are frequented and will often return if those sites are revisited.

Have you unplugged, removed battery, plugged in, rebooted? Have you done a Anti Virus and Malware scan with your up-to-date programs, have you done ALL your Windows Updates? How many running processes? May be time for some house cleaning? Two freeware programs will help. 1, MALWAREBYTES: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install, UNCHECK the TRIAL PRO version, you want to freeware version, run a FULL scan, delete ALL results reboot. 2, CCLEANER: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This freeware program has many useful tools, the cleaner and registry will remove the junk from your machine, freeing up HDD space. In the TOOLS section select STARTUP, disable ALL unnecessary startup programs to speedup start and running. reboot. The more running processes the slower and more sluggish your machine will be.

My pc is asking for advance mondule activation code, where can i get one

Are you getting that message from Windws scan? If it is then, that is a fake hard drive analysis and optimization program so you need to remove it from your computer. by following these steps: If you're not familiar in dealing with the registry, please install malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Manual Removal:
1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del on keyboard to stop process associated to "Windows Scan". When Windows Task Manager opens, go to Processes Tab and find and end the following process:
(random characters).exe

2. You need to update your installed antivirus application to have the latest database.
3. Thoroughly scan the computer and any detected threats must be removed. If removal is prohibited, it is best to quarantine the infected item. Manually locating and deleting of malicious files should also be performed. Please see files below that are related to Windows Scan Virus.
4. Registry entries created by Windows Scan must also be remove from the Windows system. Please refer below for entries associated to the rogue program. [how to edit registry]
5. Exit registry editor.
6. Get rid of Windows Scan start-up entry by going to Start > Run, type msconfig on the "Open" dialog box. A windows containing System Configuration Utility will be launched. Go to Startup tab and uncheck the following Start-up item(s):
(random characters).exe

7. Click Apply and restart the computer.

My Dell is running super slow, I see I have58 processes running, how can I tell which ones can be shut down? Or should I look elsewhere for the problem? Ihave done all the defraging and optmising. It just...

I would boot the computer into safe mode with networking and then download and install Malwarebytes to check you computer for spyware and malware. After that installs and updates, run a deep scan and check the results. If this doesn't help your system, then check the amount of memory you have and if it is under 1GB, then I would look into purchasing an upgrade.

How do i scan using a HP desktop F380

Deskjet F380 features a scanner within the upper portion of the device. "Scanning" an item describes the electronic process of converting pictures or text to data, then transferring that data to the computer as an image. Scanning an item into the computer is a simple task with the F380, the only limitation is the size of the item,
follow the steps below
Step 1
Turn the unit on by pressing the "On" button located at the top control panel. The control panel is located on the left side of the unit. The "On" button will illuminate to indicate that the unit is receiving power.
  • Step 2 Load the scanner with the item to be scanned. First, lift the lid of the F380 to the upright position to reveal the scanning surface. Place the item to be scanned face down onto the scanning surface. Position the item so that the edge of the item rests squarely against the front left-hand corner of the scanning surface, then close the unit's lid.
  • Step 3 Press the "Scan" button located at the lower left-hand corner of the F350's control panel to start the scan. If necessary, the scanning process can be stopped by pressing the "Cancel" button located just to the left of the "X" on the control panel.
  • Step 4 Save the scanned image to the computer when the scan is complete by clicking the "Accept" button on the window that appears on the computer's monitor.

The task mgr process itself is eating up memory like 90-100% then stops and returns to normal for a minute then keeps repeating over and over. It never settles down for any period of time, any solutions?...

Unless you have an inordinate amount of processes running at the same time, your taskmgr.exe should not come close to that type of usage. You've stated you have done virus scans and found nothing. It might be worth trying some of the free scans online. Either your Task Manager is corrupt or you do have some type of virus on the system. Do a search on the Microsoft site for Process Explorer. This is an excellent Task Manager replacement that will show many hidden processes that the Windows version will not see. I would then check your list of processes at a site like:

    http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm

This is an excellent site that lists a huge number of processes and what they do. I would also do the following if you haven't already done so. Bring up your Start menu and choose Run...; then type sfc /scannow and press enter. This wil check your system files to see if they are genuine. Beyond that you might want to try and do a System Restore to a date previous to the time that this issue appeared.

PC Tools stops at DEEP SCAN When I'm trying to scan My computer system.

This is PC Tools Spyware Doctor program? Try booting the computer in Safe Mode (press F8 during the boot process before you see the Windows logo and select Safe Mode from this list of options) and then running the scan. With heavier infections many cleaning tools can be blocked or have inconsistent performance.
