    I have a 2006 Mitsubishi 57"dlp unit. I get the air flow error on the screen the in 15 sec the unit shuts down. When I restart it in10 or 15 min same thing happens.The manual has nothing on this.I've used a fan to no avail. This does not happen all the time, it can run for hours with no problem.

Call Mitsubishi. They have extended their warranties on certain DLP's, because of a faulty thermal sensor. I just had mine fixed at no cost by an authorized service provider.

TV will shut down in a few seconds. Please check if the air flow is blocked, and then the TV shuts off.

We had that problem for the first year we had the TV. When looking for a new bulb I had found on the mitsubishi site that there was a problem with the sensor and for a certain amount of time they would fix it. Of course we were beyond that time, but hubby was able to do something where we split the cost. No problem since and haven't vacuumed it once. It has been at least a couple years now.

TV shuts down due to air flow being blocked

They had some stupid problems with these sets---If you know how to remove the lamp---it is customer replaceable--take it out and examine it. Shut set off first and wait a few minutes for the lamp fan to turn off. Unplug set and locate and remove lamp. Some of these sets had a lamp (it is in a cartridge like a box) that they covered openings on the housing with a screen like material (like window screen). One side of the lamp has a fairly small narrow strip of this and it blocks up with dust from the fan which is trying to keep it cool---if the screen is blocked up you will see it; Do not touch the face of the lamp when you handle it--if you find yours has a screen like material--clean it off with a brush and put it back--the later replacement version of this lamp has a screen that is coarse and does not block up with dust---on a couple of these I removed the blocked up screen material until I could get the newer lamp so the customer could continue to use it--if cleaning the dirt off works you may have to do it from time to time--depends on environment--the fan tends to pull dust and such out of the air and right into the lamp---

I do this for free here so if this does help you give me a vote here. If you have questions or need help contact me here.

"air flow blocked" means its getting too hot. or it thinks it is. it is quit common on these set that the thermal sensor has malfunction replaceing this sensor is your solution. since this is service bulliteen item at service centers of mitsubidshi products this may be an item covered under warrenty. so i would first check with you local service shop too see before

Airflow blocked tv will shut down after a few seconds

Good Day;

If you have a WD-52525 Model TV and the the screen displays "air flow problem" change the sensor. There's not a positive way to check device, just replace it, trust me. IF your TV is a different Model MIT'S has a recall on those certain Models. REPLACE.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

Error Message

. Set shuts off after displaying the message "TV will shut down in a few seconds. Please check if the air flow is blocked." After shutdown, it may have a yellow status LED, self diagnostics indicates error code 38. To repair, replace the Lamp Thermal Sensor with the new version, part # 299P313010A. The sensor is located on the Lamp Cartridge Housing. See Service Tip VS-72B. Under rare circumstances, when a replacement thermal sensor is not available, refer to the original Service Tip, VS-72 (page 2 and 3 of VS-72B) If error 3-4 then this maybe problem:. Check to see if the lamp is on when the unit is off (in standby) if it is components on the Power PWB... K9A20 and/or K9A21 are shorted. Also, R9A02 may be open. Possible side effects ... deformed lamp exhaust duct and damaged lamp. Replace PWB-POWER part # 934C228003 and if necessary, Lamp part # 915P049010, Lamp Exhaust Duct part # 642B155010, and/or Lamp Exhaust Duct Cover part # 642B156010. See Service Tip VS-73 2. If the lamp never lights suspect the Lamp part # 915P049010
