Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Unable to download photos from digital camera to PC. PC not recognising the camera.

Hi,

This is a common problem with the digital cam , probably the cable that connects to your camera going to your PC has a problem or the pic bridge of your PC try to use a different divice that will generate output to your pc or try to save pics on your memory card and then insert it to the card reader of your PC . If that works the PC can recognized your pic format all you have to do is to call the service center of your camera if its still in warranty.

Just a suggestion, I have same X60 and no cable. Instead, transfer all of your pictures to the Memory card and use the Mem card unto a card reader going to your PC.

Software issue

You should be able to connect with a USB cable The male end may not be standard size, so you may need to locate a cable.
Once you connect the Computer will try to load your images or it will treat your Camera as another hard drive from which you can copy onto your existing system. To the process your photo just buy some image software, if your system try to open file but won't diplay image. Most printer (Ex: HP come with image software).
