If you bought it on warrenty, they you can go back and get a knew one for free. I
If not, go to a local best buy store and ask if they have just docks. bring your ipod/mp3 with you so you know what size to get.

Bose SoundDock burned out two of my iPods - a Nano and a classic.

um ur sounddock might require that u place the white docking piece that came with ur ipod to be place b4 the ipod is docked if not u may ruin the dock and the ipod usb port this is done because different generation ipods(nana and touch and ...) have different shapes so the entrance for docks may require to be eleveated or reduce in gradient basically if the dock isnt made for the specific ipod or u dont know just put the white piece in

Ipod dock piece where ipod slides onto has been broken off by my 5 year while ipod was playing. Can I replace dock piece since it is separate from speaker?

Not likely unless your really good with soldering irons and superglue or it is COMPLETLY seperate (In other works the dock fully seperates from the speakers) then you might be able to order a new dock piece

Bose docking station chip broke off

I had the same problem that the ipod would onl play when I pulled it forward in the dock. Looking closely, I saw that some of the pins on the left hand side of the connector were bent forward, so I bent them back with a needle:

bad4eb2.jpg

(ie. pushing the pins to the right, as shown here). This solved the problem for me.

If your connector is too far gone, I suggest looking to:

http://www.chargeconverter.com/shop/connector.htm

for a new connector for £3-4 or

http://www.chargeconverter.com/shop/connector.htm

for a whole PCB (Printed Circuit Board) replacement for £10-15.

Hope this helps...

Attachment and volume control

This is not solution, but the way to open it up. Pry off the metal ring around the pulg-in place. Then insert a screwdriver between the foam like padding along the zipper and the plastic unit itself. By prying and lifting (get your fingers under the plastic eventually), you can break the GLUE that hold the unit to the cover. The glue will break without hurting the unit's boards. Getting past the system board inside is a whole other problem. I have (as probably all will have) this problem with the connection: I am almost sure it is with the weak docking connection that connects the ipod to the system board.
