Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+
Hello,
I'm having problem with my Sears Craftsman garage door opener model: 139.53628SRT. Open the garage door is normal but when I try to close it, it travel down for a few seconds and reverse/pull the door back again. I have to press and hold the wall-control-button to close the door completely. Press and hold the button from the wireless remote control won't do the work as the wall-control-button. Along with that, the light bulb in the unit keeps being on all the time. It supposed to turn off after the door close, isn't it? I'll try the instruction you posted. It'd be great if we can have the graphical figures to support your instruction steps. I'm a bit savy on this. Many thanks. my email is: info07@comcast.net
HOLDING DOWN THE WALL BUTTON OVERRIDES THE SAFETY EYES.
WHEN HOLDING IT DOWN MAKES THE DOOR CLOSE PROPERLY THE PROBLEM IS IN THE SAFETY EYES.
ARE BOTH LEDS ON? - CHECK FOR A LOOSE OR BROKEN WIRE.
ARE THE EYES WIRED CORRECTLY?
ARE THEY AIMED AT EACH OTHER?
YOU CAN GET THE FULL INSTRUCTIONS AT LIFTMASTER.COM
THE MODEL # WILL BE DIFFERENT BUT THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE THE SAME LOOK AT THE MANUAL FOR MODEL 3280
HOPE THIS HELPS

The button to program the unit is near where all those white wires go.

SOURCE: garage door opener won't close. travels 6-8 in.,
If you cannot get the light on the sensor to come on by tweaking it,making sure it is pointed at the other sensor and your wiring is not broken or shorted then your sensors need to be replaced.

Make sure that when inserting the 9 volt battery that those red & black wires are not somehow pinched, twisted or stretched. I just fixed mine... The battery terminal was crushing one of the wires and preventing the battery to supply power to the keypad. I found it out by NOT securing the battery case door and my opener worked fine. Securing the battery case door with the screw and thightening, my opener DID NOT WORK. It was that simploe of a FIX!
