My CMM1000 black and decker lawn mower won't charge. I've had it plugged in for days and the little green light won't stay on, and the needle keeps pointing to empty. Any help...? I'd really appreciate it!

I've ordered a new battery. A $160.00 value. I can't see anything else that could be the problem. I'll let you know if it works. When it arrives.

I am trying to find new batteries for this same mower - where did you get yours? Did new batteries fix the problem?

All of a sudden mine also acted like it wouldn't take a charge and the needle wouldn't move. The plastic safety key also wouldn't insert smoothly as it used to and I would have to push the start lever before it would drop in. When I checked the charger, it was putting out 24v. When I opened up the lid I noticed that the starter cable was pushing the safety switch incorrectly. If it was moved a bit, the mower would then start. The starter cable is only secured to the handle by tie wraps. So if it gets moved around, it can cause the kill switch to be in the kill position. So now if I have a problem, I just move the cable in or out a bit. Fortunately, this find saved me a trip to the dealer and who knows how much $$$$.

Thank you so much, Jdnfam. I was about to purchase a new battery pack but I was fortunate to read your post. I just massaged a bit the starter cable and it worked like charm.

I bought one at a garage sale, same thing would not hold a charge. I phoned black and decker and the circuit boards are faulty. They are trying to claim that the battery makes the board faulty, but the bottom line is they replaced the circuit board for free. Call your local dealer.

Could also be the recharger/transformer; I just replaced mine.

CMM1000 models types 1-4 are being recalled. Check out blackanddecker.com
Unfortunately, I have type 5 and cannot recharge the battery. I used the mower twice.

I have the exact same problem. It did'nt used to happen, but now I've had it plugged in for days and the little green light won't stay on, and the needle keeps pointing to empty. Sorry I can't help you, please let me know if you've solved your problem yet.

I just purchased a Toro e-cycler cordless mower, model # 20360. I tried plugging in the charger to the Ac outlet and the mower receptacle. My understanding is that the charger light is suppossed to be...

It could be that the batterys don't need to be changed and shouldn't be unless fully discharged, if u charge before the batteries are fully discharged u run the risk of damaging the batteries. The problem is sometimes batteries get what is called a memory charge, this means if u use your lawnmower for a short time than charge it and u do this repeatedly the batteries will only discharge for this sort time and will only charge for a sort time. Than if u need it for a big job it will seem that u have only operated it for a little time and u need to plug it in. The only way to fix the batteries is buy new ones, that way they always tell u to always fully discharge before recharging your batteries.

Cmm1000 electric lawn mower grass bag needed

I would recommend checking eBay as you can get these for almost 50% off your purchase. Visit the manufacturers website and get a part number for the bag. Use the part number to search on eBay.

Hope this helps!

My cmm1000 type 4 lawnmower does not start

Check to see that the starter cable isn't pushed in or out a bit too far and causing the kill switch to engage. It is only held in place by tie wraps and can cause the machine to act as if it can't be charged and/or won't run. Once the cable has been adjusted into the correct position, everything works as expected.

CM1000 quality cordless mower?

I have owned a cm1000 for about 10 years and have been very pleased with it. I received a replacement charging circuit board as a recall item but other than that no problems. I can usually mow my front and back yards about twice on a charge. I think I will replace the batteries this year for the first time because they are not performing well.

Black & Decker Cordless lawnmore CMM 1200 - battery

I bought my B&D cordless mower CMM1000 (very similar to the CMM1200) in April 2003. I made the mistake of following their instructions and stored it inside unplugged the first winter. Never again! The battery would not hold a charge April 2004, but was covered under warranty. Since then, I've left it trickle charging in the shed year round, including cold winters. No problem since then with the battery, which will last about 5 yrs before you need to replace it.
