Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault and will need to be replace.

I advice you replace the picture board on the screen of your monitor to solve the problem of the blank screen.

Take care.

When it have this kind of error is a problem of the powerboard.
Anyway you must open it and look at the all capacitors and if are them inflated, if them are inflated must change them.

But can be a problem with inverters... control the transistors - MOSFET on the powerboard.

Good luck!

As far as I can tell none of the capacitors look like that. I will keep investigating. Thank you for the quick response.

I know this was answered over a year ago. But the solution that jimoh mentioned is incorrect. I had the same issue 2 hours ago. The issue is a bad capacitor located on the power board. Its a easy fix if you know how to solder. Look for the capacitor that is pushing upwards. You can compare them to the flat un-blown ones. What ever one is bad, gather the information on it mine was 1000uf 10v. Get that from radio shack or any device like a spare computer supply or vcr and replace it. Once you do that it should work. I fixed it in 15 mins and didnt spend a dime. Best of luck and hope this helps many others.

Rob, can you give some more detail please. I see the capacitor you are talking about, but I do not understand what you mean by one that is pushing upwards compared to flat ones.

The capacitor will be pushing out. the metal with the lines on it will be rounded out because it blew. Kind of like a soda can dropped. Where you go to open it. It will be pushed out. Look for ones like that. If you find it remove it and replace it with the same specs.

I had the same problem with this monitor (Samsung 943nw)
When turned on it would only stay on for less then a full second.
When shining a light on the screen I could see what was on it, so it was just the backlight that was shutting down.

After I turned down the brightness of the monitor, the next time I powered on the screen the backlight stayed lit and it was back to normal.

Samsung syncmaster 172v Screen goes black after about one second. Comes back to normal after turned off, but goes black again in about one second. Rebooting computer has not fixed this.

Sorry it is like your monitor needs service. Electrolytic condensators in power supply need to be changed. Give it to an electronic shop, it is a job for a specialist.

Monitor goes blank after 3 seconds -Samsung SyncMaster 920NW

Could be a power issue. If it doesn't show anything at all then that may be the case. It may also be the display itself. It would be a costly repair so you might be better off finding a new monitor.

Monitor turns off after about 3-5 seconds

I would say your monitor is bad if you have tried it on 2 different monitors and it does the same on both. Check your warranty expiration date, some monitors have 2 or 3 years warranty. If it's still under warranty, you may be able to have it replaced or repaired.

LCD display turns pink then goes off

You may be blaming the wrong device. I suggest you try the monitor with another system, the problem you describe could be located in the video output of your system instead of a monitor fault.
