For the do it yourselfer... I noticed this forum an hour ago and after looking and searching the web decided I had nothing to lose by trying it myself. I used an exacto to remove the battery compartment door (glued on). Found 3 AAA nickel metal hydride batteries to replace the ones in the unit with. Made the solder connections. Wasn't enough room to replace the battery compartment cover, so used hot glue to keep from rattling. Replaced the battery pack on mouse and looks/works like new. Will post pics and tutorial on instructibles dot com once my taxes are done. : )

Mcdevito75 here, You can check a Radio Shack, Staples, Best Buy etc. or you may have to contact Gration itself. If you can"t get the part you need, ask a Radio shack for any related part that will work. Hope this helps.

The red light on my mouse keeps on blinking

Here's a guide;
What do the battery lights mean on my mouse? Some keyboard and mouse models feature a battery light that shows the current status of the batteries. The following table describes the different lights and states.
Light
Device Model Status Single long green blink Rechargeable Batteries are good. This occurs when batteries are first installed or every time that the device is turned on. Slow green blink Rechargeable Device is docked in the charging station and is charging properly. Steady green Rechargeable Device is docked in the charging station and does not need additional charging. Steady green Presenter Mouse (Japanese version) Laser pointer is on. Red/green blink Wireless Device is discoverable (trying to connect to the transceiver). Slow red blink Non-rechargeable Batteries are low and need to be replaced. Slow red blink Rechargeable Batteries are low and need recharging. Fast red blink Rechargeable Device is docked in the charging station, but there is a charging error.
Reasons for errors: The wrong type of battery is installed; the battery or batteries are missing; or the battery connection is bad.
Solutions: Make sure that the correct battery or batteries are installed, and are installed correctly. If necessary, remove the batteries, wipe them with a clean cloth, and reinsert them. Steady red Presenter Mouse (Standard version) Laser pointer is on.

The first thing to realize is that most wireless keyboards and mice will eat regular alkaline batteries for lunch. This is where most of my clients have gone wrong. It seems they are replacing batteries in a device around every month or even more often. For an office full of wireless devices, this can add up very quickly. Plus it also seems that certain devices act inconsistently with regular alkaline batteries. If you need to purchase a non-rechargeable battery for your wireless devices, you should purchase the "advanced" or "performance" type of batteries such as the Energizer Lithium or Duracell Quantum brands. For what it's worth, the Apple devices usually come with Energizer Lithium brand batteries. However, high performance batteries are more expensive than alkaline batteries and their cost will add up over time. So I don't recommend buying these batteries except in a pinch.
What I really recommend are a particular type of rechargeable battery called low-discharge Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH). I believe many people stay away from rechargeable batteries because of misconceptions based upon past generations of rechargeable batteries. Many people perceive rechargeable batteries as expensive and prone to failure. But the worst stigma associated with rechargeable batteries are that they don't hold their charge and never seem to be ready when they are needed. The reality is that today's new generation of low-discharge NiHM rechargeable batteries have resolved many of the issues that previous batteries suffered from. Low-discharge NiMH batteries hold their power on the order of months or years after charging. Unlike previous iterations of rechargeable batteries that lost their charge quickly, you can charge these batteries any time and they will be ready for use when you need them.

Hello, on my logitech wireless mouse, which takes 2 AA batteries,
the rear half of the top slides back then lifts off.
If this doesn't work for yours, resubmit your question and include the model or part number of the mouse. I'm assuming that your mouse is NOT a rechargeable one, as if it is, there is some info on youtube on how to fit new rechargeable batteries, but it's quite involved.

I am unable to find a retail source for a replacement battery for the GP4102 Mouse, P/N AS00248001A, S/N FD035005217. Can I purchase it direct from Gyration?

So, someone above posted that you can rebuild the batteries...I took the mouse to my local Batteries Plus store, and they have a tech sitting there that can rebuild them...I bought a pack of 4 rechargeable batteries, and the tech there rebuilt the pack with new batteries...you just have to pop the cover off of the battery pack, and let the tech do the rest...cost me $15
