Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

My printer suddenly has no power. HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One. The light on the power cord is on. I have unplugged, re-plugged, re-set the surge protector to no avail. Is there a re-start button on the printer somewhere? We just had a wicked thunderstorm go through and am suspicious its been impacted.....although nothing else plugged into the same surge protector is affected. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: printer keep restarting. c6180 hp photosmart

Apparently some defective components were used in the construction of the logic board (see photo). On my C6180 there were 3 failed capacitors (the green cylinders - the puffed top indicates failure) and a 4th from the same manufacturer (TEAPO - many unfavorable web references to this manufacturer). I purchased 3x 330uF 16V and 1x 680uF 10v rated to 105 degrees Celsius (total about 60cents). On the logic board, the capacitors I replaced are labeled C613, C614, C660 and C662. If you are not comfortable replacing the parts yourself (or don't have a soldering tool), you will have to find someone who will. The time to repair should be less than 30 min - I did it in 25 min with only a solder pen. This also fixed the ink system failures the printer was having. A similar fix may apply to other printers produced by HP around this time. acca299.jpg

HP Photosmart C6288 Ink System Failure

Turn off the machine, unplug the power cord from the back of the machine, remove the ink cartridges, wait 2 min, plug the power cord back in, press the on button, wait until the printer prompts that the ink cartridges are missing, replace ink cartridges. If this doesn't clear the error you may need to re-prime the ink lines to fix it. Instructions for doing this are at http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/hp-photosmart-ink-system-failure-1/.

Photosmart C6180 All in one printer will not start although live

Strange because I have the same issue, and I've had this printer for over 3 years but the problem just started about a month ago.
I reset the printer by: 1) Unplug power to the printer 2) Hold #6 on the keyboard 3) Plug power cord back in while holding #6 Eventually (10 seconds?) the printer will shut down. Once it does, release #6 and power up the printer again.
Warning: This reset all the configuration settings.
This works for me, but there is still an issue because I have to repeat this every time I turn off/on the printer.

Press the On button to turn the printer off.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
Remove all the ink cartridges.
Wait two minutes.
Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
Press the On button to turn the printer on.
Install the ink cartridges when prompted.
If the error code does not display, the issue is resolved.
If the 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel, service the printer.
good luck

I have a 2 yr. old C6180. It will not turn on as of yesterday. Power is coming from the socket as the little green lights on the plug are lighted. I have unplugged all cords and plugged them back in but...

try unplugging power cord and holding #6while your plugginmg in the power cord hold the button down until you see the display lights turning on and release if you are printing wirelessly you will have to do the wireless setup wizard again.
if that doesn't work try plugging it directly to the wall
if all else fails it may be the printer

Cannot turn printer on

might as well do a reset:
for partial reset:
1.unplug the power cord wthout turning the printer off
2.while the cord is unplugges, press # and number 3 simultaneously
3.hold the 2 button for 10 seconds while inserting the plug back
4.release the 2 buttons when the printer reinitialized.

for semi-full reset:
follow same steps but press # and number 6

semi full means the printer is set back to factory settings or default settings.

HP C6180 ''Unable to scan, copy or send a fax''

Hi,

Check the following steps:

Connect the printer directly to the wall outlet and

1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from power and disconnect the connection port.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only.
4. Repeat steps 2-4 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the connection port from the all-in-one to your computer.

1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on.

2. Press and hold # and 6 while plugging in the power cord

Try to check the result.
