In the process of cleaning the contacts I found a small plastic protrusion on the cartridge that was holding the contacts away from the cartridge. After removing this small plastic spacer so the contacts could make a positive connection, the printer worked fine. Thank you.

Remove all the cartridges, turn of the machine, leave it off for few minutes. Unplug the usb cable and power cord. Clean all the cartridges contact points and also the contact points on the printer. You can use cotton dipped in acetone/alcohol/spirit. Also open up the front panel door and clean whatever is possible. After everything's cleared and dried, reconnect the power cord. Power on the printer, leave it on for few minutes and install the cartridges. Once again turn it off.

(Note:This is going to reset the printer, do it carefully) Again turn the printer on while holding down both the ink and paper buttons. Release both buttons when the paper light flashes , then press and hold down the ink button for several seconds (approx 10 secs). This will forcefully reset the printer to it default state/condition. Now you can use the printer as usual.

If you have problem, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I would not suggest installing a re-manufactured ink on your printer. The error message appears because you have installed a non-genuine cartridge. New models of Epson printers have detection systems that detects or hinders/stop usage of re-manufactured ink cartridges. There are instance the printer accepts non-genuine cartridges, but still may impose problems such as mismatch in color, alignment and other print related issues. Another, there are some instances the printer quits or stops printing after sometime using non genuine inks. I have experienced it first hand, and had those issues, and the worst thing is I have to replace the printer head after prolonged usage of re-manufactured inks.

Hallo I have a problem with my EPSON sx415. I bought new analog ink cartridges (not genuine). I puted it in my printer and tryied to print. But paper was white. So I decided to clean printers head with...

you will have to spend more money my friend! the epson ink is called durabrite, the cheaper cart you got is water based, the head should have been flushed before hand to remove the durabrite ink, what has happened is the 2 types of ink have mixed in the head and set. the only way to fix this is to remove the head from printer and have it ultrasonic cleaned, i had the same problem and tryed cleaning products with no affect! the only wat is to get it ultrasonic cleaned, or if you have the epson carts, put them back in and try and get it exchanged if still under a year old. as a new head is about the same price of the printer, however argos has the printer on offer at this min for only £39.99 which is cheaper than ink. oh yea, the reason that the printer is now not seeing the carts is that doing back to back cleans emptys a new set of carts after only 5 or 6 head cleans so your new ink is now useless, sorry for the bad news.

Dell 942 AIO printer won't recognise black cartridge:

I think you purchased a black cartridge with bad electronics. Basically your cartridge can't communicate with your printer and you should exchange it for a new one. There is no way to "fool" your printer into accepting refills with bad electronics. What you can do is when you get the message that you aren't using genuine cartridges and it won't be able to estimate ink levels is to check the box indicating to ignore the ink levels.

Ink cartridges not working in epson sx100 all in one printer

hi.make sure there is no tape or dirt on cartridge chip contacts.if still no joy trying iserting one cartridge at a time then installing.say insert black then will say others carts missing red blue yellow.keep going till they are installed.sometimes helps.make sure the carts have lastest chips installed version 5 or higher if compatable cart.should not be a problem if bought from epson.eg t711 etc will fit but must be new carts with new chip otherwise may not accept.i belive the sx100 has something like t811 or something.this may be the new chip.otherwise may just be a faulty chip on the cart.you can get refillable carts or ciss system on ebay you put in your own ink.they are brillant.cart chips reset when low ink.hope this may help.

Printer problem

Try to unplug the printer from power. Wait a minute. Take all carts out. Close ink cover. Replug printer to power. Machine demands carts. Insert carts as demanded.

If you still have this error this could be due to generic ink carts. Ink may have stained the led control and the ink assy has to be replaced!
