I need a diagarm of installing the deck on my mower i have a craftsmen vt3 4500 and i need to put the deck back on i would like a diagram on how it goes

you need to remove the belt guides and put the v part against the v grooves and the flat side against the flat grooves.check your operaters manual for a diagram.once installed ,put the guides back on and install the deck.
Sounds like you are on the right path, maybe some wires on the ignition were replaced backward, and you are sending +12v directly to ground? Does it blow right away?
Get your model # from under the seat (should start with 917) and go to this site.. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action Then, enter your model #, click on search, scroll down to Subcomponent list to Mower Deck and there ya are. You'll probably have to click on 'zoom in' in the top left corner. Hope that's what you were looking for
