I have a Canon Powershot A70, which "locked" electronically when I swapped memory cards without switching off the camera first. This resulted in the lens being in the extended mode and the shutter open. I then placed the camera in a bag for protection which has probably put pressure on the lens assembly. Now the lens will not retract completely and will not focus when taking photos. A camera shop has told me the lens assembly will need to be replaced at a cost of £140 (i.e. a new camera). What a waste! Can the lens assembly be repaired? Is it something a dextrous technical kind of person could do themselves and if not could you reccommend someone?
