ECS A530 sir my ecs A530 laptop asks for my current password. I entered my password but it was not recognized. i try to reformat it but the reformatting wont continue. it doesnt detect my hard disk. we test the hard disk and found out it was working well.. the man we asked to test the drive told us that maybe the defect was with the hard disk connector which was connected with the motherboard. can you help me??? and i also wonder if the password asked was it the manufacturer's password???

First: the password was rejected, probably cause you were with the (Num Lock) locked, or (Caps Lock).
When you try to format , if you are not using an operating system that have drivers for SATA disk , the install will tell you that there is not a disk in the system. You can use Vista to format and reinstall the system, or a Windows XP with SATA drivers compiled before, (inside the CD).

My ECS A530 laptop displays only green vertical lines. can someone please help?

Sounds like you have a bad LCD screen, hook up a computer monitor on the video output located on the back of your Laptop, if the monitor produces a nice clean picture, suspect the LCD screen on your Laptop.

Cant find sound drivers for ecs motherboard ECS

Here is the ECS page for your Mainboard.

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/ProductsDetail_Download.aspx?detailid=822&DetailName=New&DetailDesc=&CategoryID=1&MenuID=6&LanID=9

They dont list a Version 2.0 on the ECS website so I am going to guess that the drivers for V1.0 is the same for V2.0. Just make sure not to try to update your Bios from this page.
Hope this helps...

I believe I need to jump the computer because I got a used machine that is locked by a password. I do not have the original discs. The computer I have is a ECS running Windoes Professional, the motherboard...

Check the motherboard's manuals to see if there is a jumper to reset the CMOS.

If not, unplug the power cord to your computer, open the side, pop out that same battery and keep it out for over 24 hours. After 24 hours (or more) have elapsed, plug the power cord back in to your computer's PSU. At this time we will not be inserting the battery. Start the computer and see if it still asks for that password.

If so, when does it ask for the password? Does it ask after the system POSTs and is about to boot from the Hard-Drive? If so there's a possibility the previous owner of the computer downloaded some form of application that activates when windows begins to load which asks for an authentication code, in this case the password. In such a case you will have to reformat the hard-drive and reinstall windows.

If not it's possible that the CMOS reset is not working (for some odd reason).

I hope you get this resolved, sad to buy something then not get to use it.

My ECS A530 laptop need a bios password

It depends what kind of password is that, if you are dealing with a password witch is being asked when it's turned on and called power on password or what (last time I saw something like that 2-3 mounths ago) than you have almost 0 chance to get in to your computer without it. In that case I strongly suggest you to check your papers, no matter if there's no more warrenty left, call the hp support line and as far as I know they have their own passwords and they'll tell you if you can prove that you are the rightful owner of the laptop not a thief.

If it's just a windows password, than it's a piece of cake, just go google and type ophcrack, download the live cd of theirs, and burn it to disc on another machine, use that cd to start your laptop and make sure that it boot's from it, it will automaticly try to crack the password and will show you if found one, (most passwords are stored in 2 pices, you'll see, on the screen, you'll need to use both halves of the password case sensitively as shown.)

Best luck

Computer powers on, but does nothing

Try putting your windows cd in before you boot up to see, when it starts up if your laptop is set up to boot from cd. If not, can you press F2 or DEL on boot up to see if you can enter the bios screen. Come back here.
