There are some parts on one of the processor boards that have become thermo sensitive with age and use.

An experienced service tech should be able to find the thermo sensitive part by using the technic of cooling the suspect areas with liquid air and heating them back up with a heat gun to provoke the fault. With this type of process it should be possible to zero in on the parts without going in to very complicated analysis.

If the parts become permanently failed, then the only way to fix the set would be by board swapping, as how these sets are normaly serviced.

If the failed parts are proprietary type parts that cannot be genericaly bought, then they will have to be ordered from Sony only. Normaly, Sony only sells the complete boards for these TV sets. They do not fully support component level service for many reasons.

Considering the age of your set, it is very possible that parts for your set will no longer be available from Sony. I found that after about 3 to 5 years, most of the parts were no longer available for most of these models of sets.

I assume your DVD is coming up in colour when you plug it into a standard scart connector? Have you tried using a different S-Video cable because this sound symptomatic of a dodgy lead?
Check the SCART end of your lead for any bent or broken pins.

Failing that if the problem lies with the TV itself I'd really recommend having a pro look at it. Plasma's are expensive and opening it up if you don't know what you are doing is a bad idea.

What is colour temperature?

Colour temperature. The higher the K number the more blue and brighter the glare. The lower the K number the softer the light and more pink in the colour. The light colour can be explained by use of a strip lamp, (flourescent lamp).
The warm white strip lamp used in offices have a temperature of 2500K. The new type "energy saving" lamps have a temperature of 2800K and are whiter and have more of the blue spectrum in them.
I hope that helps.

Screen problem

This is a problem we have seen on this particular unit. There are internal adjustment that must be done to correct this problem. This adjust is done on the power supply. There are VS, VE and VA adjust. Look on the interior of the Panel for voltage chart. Adjust these voltage accordingly.

Best regards

If it's just one video plug, then perhaps you have to set av5 as being in colour somwhere in the menus.  If you require three wires for the pictures, as blue, green, and red, then make sure they aren't in the wrong ports.
Good luck.
