T.V. SHUTS OFF - SCREEN GREEN WHEN TURNED BACK ON!!!!

When my t.v. shuts off automatically - I unplug it then plug it back in again and the screen is green? Has it blown a tube? I have had it for 10 years.

Is it a tv or rear-projector? does it brings out the sound?

on a tv it could be the chromatisation IC that is defectiven when it goes blank. why? because of a power surge in the electrical net the tv got too much voltage to take.

try to desoldeer the EPROM IC and power on the set. does this make the set goes normal blue screen? if YES,you can order a new EPROM IC.

succes and enjoy

There will be a fault somewhere, probably in the power supply and the tv has shut down into protection mode to safegaurd other components

Screen freezes and then shuts off. This cycles every 1-2 minutes

Try the main board with the cpu chip. The cpu chip should have a heatsink attached to it, may be an overheating problem. It has the LCD panel connector plugged into it. You may be able to find the board on ebay for less than a repair shop.

Tv problems

Unplug the three red-blue-green plugs nest to the convergence amps. If the unit powers up and stays on the picture will look bad but will confirm that the convergence amps have failed...
Replacing the amps and one or more resistors in the yoke return will restore the set to normal operation..
Use only Sanyo original Ics..

Screen shows green and lines and shuts off

if the screen gets really bright then shuts off its going into protection shutdown. Could be a bad or shorted green tube. Or your missing the drive voltage from the sweep supply that suppys b+ to the screen transistors or the High voltage block. This is a hard thing to track down without monitoring points in the curcuit. If you troubleshot electronics i would start with measureing the screen voltage first. If thats ok then i would then monitor the HV shutdown triger point to see if the problem lies from the HV going to high and if its shutting down from an overload then test the green crt. if thats good disconnect the green 2nd anode lead from the HV distribution block to see if its in the green tube or from the High voltage. Any way your gonna need a service manual and a schematic and you can order that from sams photo fact.com ood Luck
