Question about HP Computers & Internet

My wife has a new Toshiba laptop with Windows 7. I have a Gateway desktop with Windows XP. The Toshiba will not print using the Gateway as a server. We are using at&t u-verse for our internet access. Firewall has been set to allow sharing. Danny Spurgeon

What is the connection type between the two pc's? Wired or wireless? If it's wireless, will take more time to print. Wired connection is faster. I would suggest you to setup the printer sharing once again from your Xp Gateway. After it's shared, Add the printer from the Toshiba laptop, if you are asked to install the drivers, then go ahead with the installation procedure. There should be no firewall involved with this issue, at least the connection problem and the sharing issue. Please install required drivers and your printer will work fine.

If you have problem, let me know, i am here to assist you further.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

There might be a problem w/ your IP address or DNS server, try to open LOCAL AREA NETWORK CONNECTION STATUS in your laptop running xp, click support/details, Then copy the DNS server address and alternative dns server address.

open your vista go to Network Connection/LAN properties, then double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP, mark obtain ip address automatically, then the lower side Mark USE THE FOLLOWING SEVER ADDRESS then paste the dns server address which you copied from xp laptop. same w/ alternate dns server, and then click OK. DONE.

I have window 7 64bit and the keyspan software installed fine but the server utility does not recognize the print server. I allowed port 3842 tcp and udp through the windows firewall but still no luck.

for key span server to work with windows 7 install windows xp mode to windows 7 ( this can be downloaded from microsoft website if you have windows 7 pro and above. if you have windows 7 home then install windows virtual pc, start it up and insert a windows xp pro install disk. for info on this google 'workaround to install windows xp mode in windows 7 home premium and home basic') Once you have windows xp mode running, install the keyspan server utility int he virtual machine and setup as usuall. then share the printer. go to windows 7 devices and printers and add a printer, chose a network printer, select the new virtual machine and select the shared printer. In order for the printer to work just start up the keyspan program from windows 7 and print....your welcome.

MY WINDOWS 7 LAPTOP WONT RECOGNISE PRINT SERVER

Please note that all old devices drivers have upto windows xp or 2003 server files becuase now only windows 7 has been launched in the market. So don't worry you can download print server drivers from the site .

If your print server is USB connected , the windows 7 will say found new hardware after that it will ask you update drivers, there you can click on have disk and locate the driver files where you have kept and clickon windows 2000 or xp from here you can select the driver and install it. Defently your print server will work.

If this answer is helpful ,pls rate it.

Can't connect my Linksys WRT54GS router to zonet zps1000

The gateway would be the address that your router uses.

You would plug the print server into the back of the computer using the ethernet line.

Use this link to get into the support section of the website:
