If this is a Blu Ray Disk then your unit needs a firmware upgrade to be able to play the new Blu ray format. Contact Samsung for the upgrade file, burn to a DVD and run. The update will allow your unit play the new BR Format.

SOURCE: Blue ray won't play Avatar?

There is a firmware update for the BD-HP22. I had the same problem with Avatar but after I installed the firmware update, it loaded and ran smooth. Use the USB flash drive that came with the player or any other usb flash drive to load the firmware update. Check the link below for instructions and update file from Sharp's website.

Word of warning Sharp does not prevent uploading from alternate region in error. I made this mistake and after speaking to Sharp UK cannot do anything but wait for newer version release if at all. once uploaded reversals is impossible.

SOURCE: My Bd-hp22 Aquos blu-ray pllayer

Hello queerdust89,

Go to www.sharpusa.com and look for a software update. Download into a usb and plug the usb into your blu-ray player. There should be a usb port right at the front. Press menu using your blu-ray remote and go to settings. From there go to software update and click enter. If you have a password on your blu-ray then enter it in, if you have not set one then press enter to start checking data in your USB device. Once it detects it, click yes to start the software update. (NOTE: make sure that there is ONLY the software update in the usb, and other folders or files otherwise it will not update). Once you press enter to start updating, give a few minutes for it to update by itself. Once its done, just turn off the blu-ray and take out the usb. Turn it back on and try putting a blu-ray movie in there. I hope this helps, give me your feedback if it does not. Good luck.

Every time i push a button on my remote for my sharp bd-hp22 blu ray player rc2 shows up on the display and nouthing happens

Hello
If reset option did not make all the functions revert to its factory settings, there may be some fault with its firmware. the firmware update should be done. But before that, insert a dvd disk [not Blu_Ray disc] in and see whether the set reads it an starts to play. If not, just open the top cover of the set, and look whether the disc inserted spins inside it as we power ON the set. If it does not spins, the sled motor should be checked. If disc doe not spin inside any disc player, the fault you points out here will occur. Just check this, and inform me. OK

I have up dated a sharp BD HP22 blueray player so it plays new bluerays, but now it doesnt play normal dvds, what can i do. thanks

Check the DVD code written at the back of the player ( 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 ) and see if your disc code matches if not it will not play once you update the firmware. You see many of the players sold in the market have the DVD codes unlocked, but once you update the firmware it automatically goes back to its native region.

Hi i have a sharp hp22 i ham trying to play normal dvds on it ? is that possible

All Blu Ray players that I have dealt with are what is termed "backwards compatible" which means they play Blu Ray, standard DVDs,music CDs,MP3s,recorded CDs and DVDs, etc. yours should have no problem reading and playing back your "normal" DVDs. Good luck !
