Hello,

Here are procedure to follow the operation

  1. Park and turn off the Craftsman riding lawnmower. Locate the deck lever and pull toward you. This will put the riding lawnmower into the highest position.
  2. Step 2 Get off of the mower and walk around to the front. Look at the tires and find the midpoint.
  3. Step 3 Locate the suspension arm on the left-front side of the riding lawnmower. Below the suspension arm is the lift link adjustment nut.
  4. Step 4 Pick up the wrench and put it on the nut. In a clockwise motion, count the number turns until the nut becomes tight. The lift link adjustment will raise the left-front side of the mower with the clockwise motion. Repeat this on the right-front side, with the same number of counts completed on the left-front side. This will level the riding lawnmower.
  5. Step 5 Loosening the lift link adjustment nut on the left-front side will lower the riding lawnmower. In a counter-clockwise motion, count the number of twists you make until the nut is loose. Repeat this on the right-front side to lower the riding lawnmower to the same level as the left-front side.
  6. Step 6 Adjusting the front and back level of the riding lawnmower requires that the left and right side be level first.
  7. Step 7 Locate the link just behind the tire and pick up the wrench. Put the wrench on the nut facing the front of the riding lawnmower. Count the number of counter-clockwise motions it takes to loosen the nut. Repeat this on the right-front side. Go back to the other side.
  8. Step 8 Locate the nut just behind the one loosened and count the number of clockwise motions needed to tighten the nut. This will lower the riding lawnmower.
  9. Step 9 Locate the link just behind the tire and pick up the wrench. Put the wrench on the left-front side nut just behind the nut facing the front. Tighten the nut in a clockwise motion. Count the number of twists and repeat this action to the right-front side. Go back to the other side.
  10. Step 10 Locate the nut facing the front of the riding lawnmower. Tighten the nut in a counter-clockwise motion. Count the number of twists and repeat the action to the right-front side. This will lower the riding lawnmower.
thank you and thanks for using fixya.

Is not cutting evenly

Depending on the mower design there are several possibilities here. There should be adjustments for the deck. Either by raising or lowering the deck wheels or adjusting where the deck connects to the mower. Also possible that the support mechanism is bent causing the deck to sit lower on one side or even that the deck is bent especially if someone has been stepping on the deck to enter or exit the mower.

2 ways to adjust deck level, the obvious is the ground wheels. The other is adjustment rods that hold the deck to the under side of the frame, usually 2 rods one on each side and maybe 1 in the front of deck/frame

I need to adjust my scag mower deck

The mower deck can be adjusted from a height of 1.0 inch to 6.0 inches at 1/4-inch intervals. To adjust the cutting height:
1. Disengage the power to the cutter blades.
2. Push the cutting height adjustment foot pedal all the way forward using your right foot until it locks in place
3. Insert the lanyard pin into the cutting height index at the desired cutting height. Push forward on the deck lift foot lever, hold in place and pull back on the deck release lever. Slowly release the foot pedal. A deck height decal is located on the cutting height index as an aid in adjusting the deck to the desired height.

Check that the cutting tip of the blade that is cutting lower is not bent down. Also park the mower on a level surface and lower the deck and check the gap under the front of the deck is even. If not, there are levelling adjustments on the top of one side of the deck. Regards Phil

The blades should be a simple bolt on, how ever there are no adjustments at the blade. Your adjustments are on the swing brackets that raise and lower the deck.
