HI. This is quite simple to solve. There are a couple of monitoring thermostats or thermistors that regulate temperature inside the unit. One or more of the temperature sensors have failed. I suspect it will be the sensor located in the refrigerator section. This failed temperature sensor must be replace, asap.

I will need your entire model number to post the correct part numbers and diagrams that will be needed. I can also post a repair manual to help with the replacement procedure, as well. Please post this much needed information, asap.

Frost buildup in freezer is an indication that there may be air being drawn into either the fresh food section door seal or the freezer door seal. Your model has a 61005543 Air Damper

That may also be either defective or stuck in the open position due to frost buildup. You are just going to have a look behind the rear wall of freezer to see what is going on. Unplug first before servicing. If you would like me to upload a Service Manual please let me know, John Tripp Appliance 911

My vegetables keep freezing in the fridge, how do i get the fridge at the right temp?

Remove the vegetable/ produce/ meat draws and shelving that support them. Look along the rear wall or the left inside wall for vents that are feeding or directing cold air to the draws. First try to shut or close these vents down. Or you can tape over them to restrict the flow . The normal refrig temp is between 37 to 40 deg.

Refrigerator keeps getting colder and colder. I reset the temp every time I open it, but it goes back to being too cold. Is registering 24! GE Profile side by side with ice and water through the door.

Hi,

Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for the plastic air deflector at the top rear of the refrigerator, As you know, the deflector directs the freezer air toward the front of the frig and the rear of the cold control, which is now functioning properly.
Hoping that this will help to solve the problem...

The vegetables in the bottom drawers of the refrigerator are being frozen. What an I do to resolve?

Veggie can freeze easy when temps are incorrectly set within the unit. Check temperature setting for both sides of the unit. Due to physics cold air drops and heat rises. With this in mind, make sure door seals are tight around the doors, if this does not solve the problem, you may need to cut off the direct air flow into the veggie bin directly to solve this issue. Over the years I have seen reducing air flow calms the freezing issue.

I can set the temperature at the console in the fridge and it wont set? i can put it on 37 and it will get as cold as 28. I have to bump the freezer up to around 4 or 5 to somewhat maintain a temp of 36 in...

Your ice box uses thermistors to judge temp. The control board measures the resistances changes in these thermistors and acts accordingly. This video shows how to check:

Luckily, I found this before rushing out to purchase the control

Why are my veggies freezing even thought the temp is set to 40?

Most fridges have crisper drawers that have a selection lever on either the front or side of the drawer that allows you to select eiher veggies or meat. Veggie setting is supposed to keep the crisper drawer warmer, while Meat setting makes it the coldest possible.

If you don't have the selector slide levers, I would suggest you use the highest possible crisper drawer available, as the lower in the frdge compartment you go, the colder the air will be. That should resolve the problem you're having, other than lowering the fridge temp setting slightly.

You might notice a cold air exchange vent next to your crisper, which supplies cold air from the freezer section into the fridge section, so that could be contributing to the colder temps in the crisper where you keep your veggies.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
