Question about Eureka Altima Upright Vacuum Model 2996AVS Vacuum
There are two screws on the top side just behind the Brush housing. Remove these two screws, one on each side, and the top plate can be removed. Then you can follow the directions above.
Hope that helps.

How do I change the belt?
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Without knowing the name brand of the vacuum most of the vacuums the belt change is done by removing the bottom plate and exposing the belt, 1st hook the new belt around the brushroll and then use a screwdriver or similar with a bent hook on the end and then pull or hook the belt on to the motor pulley and then track the belt to make sure the belt stays on, then re-install the bottom plate and turn the vacuum on to test to see id the belt was installed correctly. The other is to look for 2 or 4 screws on the bottom and then remove the top cover and follow the instruction listed above without the bottom plate. A belt change should be done every 4 to 6 months on a regular basics and to keep the belts in the refrigerator to keep them fresh.
