Please try the hard disk on another and let me know. If it's working find without any problem on that system, then we need to go ahead with other components. If you can, bring in another hard disk, connect it on the system after removing the one which is installed and boot from the new one, your best option is using a new hard disk, install new windows and boot from the hard disk. If the old hard disk is the culprit, you can easily fix it by replacing with a new hard disk. You can backup all the files, no matter, maybe it will take time, but i'll save you from future disaster.
This problem relates to many causes, so we need to do step by step. This is the hard disk troubleshooting measures, next we'll do with the Memory/Ram and Cpu.

Let me know when you are done.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I upgraded Memory to 4GB with Two 2GB SD Ram Modules but System shows Only One 2GB module and does not show/recognize second module. BIOS Setting Shows Second Slot/RAM Module Not Activated.

is the module in properly?,is anything broken?? switch them around and see if the module is good or not, also, just because the motherboard supports 2 modules,if intel only recognizes 2gb then that is all, whether you have 2 1gb modules or 2 2gb modules, upgrade your intel chip and upgrade your bios

Can i put 2x2gb ram in k9vgm-v motherboard

It should specs say:
• Supports Dual DDR II 533/667/800
- 2 DDRII DIMMs (240pin / 1.8V)
- Supports a maximum memory size up to 2GB.
Most systems will pick up the 4GB, but Windows 32Bit has a 3GB limitation.

Hi, you can download a manual here:

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/Downloads_Driver_Detail.aspx?MenuID=61&LanID=9&detailid=653

Here is some more info:

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=653&CategoryID=1&MenuID=21&LanID=0

I think one of the ram modules is defect.
Set the bios setting to auto for the ram and let it handle it itself.
It has to work together with the cpu. Maybe the cpu does not
supports 800 mhz.
Read all about that in the manual.

1. Go to your products site to locate the latest BIOS update.
2. Core unlocking can be very dangerous. The 4th core is locked for a reason, usually because of a manufacturing defect. If it seems unstable then it probably is. Some people that you see online get lucky and successfully unlock the 4th core. However, this is not the safest thing to do and could actually damage your CPU. If you think it is unstable, then you should probably restore it to its factory defaults.

Memory not recognized. 4 gig installed only 2 gig recognized by bios and windows. Vista home premium 32 bit.

2GB is quite low but you will never see the full amount of ram.
Your video card will use some and then Windows reserves some for itself.
You dont say if its 2x2gb sticks or just one, if two does bios see the full 4gb. Check the memory is properly seated. Try swapping the sticks round.
