Our neptune dryer isn't heating to dry. It is a gas dryer, and we have cleaned all the vents.

The issue is with the gas valve system and not with the vent system. A component in the gas valve system must have failed and prevents gas to be ignited for the dryer to heat up. The first thing to check is the igniter whether it is glowing red hot or not when the dryer is started. Check the continuity at room temperature of the radiant sensor, high-limit thermostat, and the physical condition of the igniter itself located on the burner assembly and the cycling thermostat on the blower housing outlet duct if the igniter fails to glow red hot. One of these components must have failed and needs to be replaced.

One or both of the gas valve solenoids must have failed if the igniter glows red hot but no gas is being ignited. Both of them must be replaced if that is the case. Please indicate the exact model number of the dryer should you need further assistance. The gas dryer heats then does not heat. The sensor says 99 minutes to dry close. Tried it on timed heat and it dries then stops drying. Sometimes shutting off completely!

Hello,Cheack to make sure your venting is clean and clear..If its blocked the safty thermostat will shut the heat down to prevent overheating.. If the vent is clean i would check the coils. When they start to fail it will heat then not cycle back on..

Taking long time to dry the clothes

Due to a dryer either heats or no heat , I would suggest pulling the dryer out and removing the vent hose . Dry a load of clothes to see if they dry normally . If they do , this verifys that the vent hose is either kinked ( restricting air flow ) , or , if the vent runs UP inside the wall , there is a restriction between the inside vent hose to the outside vent . May have to go into the attic to clean .

Hi, sounds like a plugged vent. Pull the dryer out from the wall and disconnect the vent.Clean out any lint and make sure you have good airflow to the outside.

Be sure vent is clear, if vent is clear you may need a new set of solenoids for the valve.

Maytag Neptune gas dryer MDG4000AWW not heating properly.

Note: Normal drying time for a dryer is about 45 minutes (some may take up to an hour).

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat.
