Starting problem Hello, I am using a Dell Inspiron laptop. When I on the laptop, the laptop is able to load initially, when the screen shows the Dell logo. However when it comes to the part where it load at the Windows XP logo screen, the bar below the logo keeps moving showing that it is loading but after 20 minutes, my laptop is still showing the same screen. I cant reach my XP account page. How do I solve this?

While booting your laptop, press the F8 key repeatedly, eventually you should be offered a screen which offers several boot options.

Choose the "Boot in safe mode" option. This will install a cut down version of windows.

Once the operating system is up, click on start - all programmes - accessories - system tools - system restore.

Restore to a date prior to your boot problems.

Immediately after seeing the Dell logo, keep tapping the 'F8' key,
until you see a "menu" (white text over a black background)
giving "startup" options for Windows XP.

Select "Safe Mode" and see if you can start in that mode.
Then, use "System Restore" to go "back" in time, to the most-recent checkpoint (date/time) where your computer _DID_ work.

Restore to that point, and restart.

ThMy Dell inspiron b120 couldn't shut down?

Stuck process. Use Ctrl-Alt-Del to see what is not responding, kill the process.

Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. In Startup tab, uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

I have dell inspiron 1764. Froze. Restarted, after loading from blue Dell Inspiron bar came up with screen saying operating system not found

Press key and the power button to initiate diagnostic testing on your laptop. You want to see if there are any hardware errors, specifically the hard drive. If all tests pass then your operating system software is corrupted and needs to be re-installed.

Screen is dark

Hi Yacob

First Run a diags on the dell laptop. You can initiate it by pressing fn+power button together and start the laptop. It will go to the diags screen. Tell me if the diags pass or not and then we will troubleshoot further.
Thank you
