John deere LX 178 wont start

I believe its in the brake Safty switch??

Check the seat switch also as these can be touchy too,just temporarily bypass it

First thing to check is make sure you blade switch is in off position, brake/clutch is down and locked. There is a 20amp fuse in a fuse holder by the battery in engine compartment. Is it not turning over or not starting?

you have a safty switch problem you have 4 to 6 switchs the easest way to test them ,startin with the seat get a ohms metter they are open or noramly closed

test the seat switch first. then the brake, they should be a 2 wire, just put a continuity tester on each of the terminals and one position will be open the other will be closed. there are videos on you tube that show how to test these switches,

JD model # 135 wont start -


yes.. you need to be sitting on the seat to start the engine as you have to have the brake peddle depress as well

pull plug if its wet you have a firing problem if not the you have a fuel problem! been my expierence use only jd parts on that bad boy! little more $ save you several little head aches!
