Hi,

If the power and pressure swithch lights are on but no display, no errror codes and heater will not operate, the problem is the thermostat.

Check the thermostat if it is not low, if low adjust it. if the problem continues, multimeter to read the meter. If it is not working replace with a new one.

Thanks.

Here is a quote from a customer who had this unit and replaced it, and he goes on to say....quote.....

"If it's anything like the Pentair MiniMax NT we had, the best advice is to wrap a chain around it and drag it to the curb. I'll never buy another Pentair Heater!

This unit was in service for exactly one year and when it was removed, it looked like a 30 year old unit. It was that burned out and sooted up.

After numerous errors and several trips out by their service rep. they now tell us that the Minimax NT was just a stopgap fix for a LowNox system at the time and they have now stopped making them.

They replaced our unit with a 200,000 btu Peerless unit that oddly, resembles R2D2 or a shop vac but it's working perfectly so far.

I was impressed to learn that a 200,000 BTU unit on a 50,000 gallon pool keeps up perfectly, 90 degrees F. all the time."

I just through that out there because I found too many complaints all about the same problems and the solutions all seem to elude the replacement of the controller(DDTC) providing you have the correct incoming power and correct wiring of which I am sure the wiring is fine as it recently was working, are you getting 24 v into the panel, if not the transformer may be the culprit, I mean this heater has a lot of issues so you may be doing yourself justice having a repairman work on it..... another item in question can be the therm sensor,( when the thermistor is bad or voltage to the back of the control board drops below 20vac. 9 times out of 10 it is the thermistor or temp sensor)but all indications are the $300.00 control(DDTC).

A soot build up could cause an issue with either gas pressure or gas flow. With the heater fired the pressure into the valve should maintain no less than 6" wc for natural gas 13" for propane. If the pressure is good, it is a good idea to clean the orfices regularly to ensure good gas flow to the burners.
Hope This Helps.

how do I check the voltage, I would assume that if the Pwr and Pressure led light I have power?

I do not get a temp reading and it will not start. I pulled offf the thermistor probe wire and it did not change the display.

The reply you supplied I already read on line.

If you have never worked with test equipment like volt/ohms meters I would highly recommend not trying to do this cold turkey without someone there to guide you that works with electrical devices as a profession, one wrong step and you can get seriously injured, even the pro's have it happen.

It is the DDTC controller a part that has a 99% failure rate on these units.

Take off he front panel so you can see the back side of the circuit board.
Turn it on and once it fails see what red lights are lit on the back of the board, this will point you in the right direction as to what needs to be addressed.

Cleaning the Thermal couple can work at times, however most times you will need to replace it. You may also be having an issue with the ignition control. You are in pretty deep now and it would seem like you are determined to save this heater, I would change them both.

try cycling the power to the heater itself. Check for damage (pack rats, etc..). It sounds like you may have had a direct short. It could be a board problem or a transformer problem. If you're still getting the service heater light, check to see if any diagnostic LED is illuminated behind the board.

E05 and E06 is the error codes for a faulty stack flue sensor. try changing the sensor first is the cheapest. if that doesn't work check for corrosion on control board in which case will have to change out board.

My pool heater will not start. The power light is off and the pressure sw is lit.

You must turn on the pump and let water circulate through the pool and the heater before you turn on the heater otherwise you will ruin the heater
