Question about Adobe Computers & Internet

3 Answers

When I go to my control panel, they add/remove programs I have 2 versions of Adobe Reader 8.1.7 and 9.3.2. I am trying to delete 8.1.7 and a message comes up ''This parch package could not be opened, verify that the patch package exist and then you can access it, or contact the application vendor''. Also when I try to install Adobe reader 9.3 a screen pop up saying ''Click ok to try, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package AcroRead.Msi'' I am using xp.

It looks like the Adobe 8.1.7 was manually deleted from your computer. It was not uninstalled. Also the Installer on your windows XP may be corrupt. Use a registry cleanup tool to remove the Adobe and the windows installer program and reinstall the windows installer and the the Adobe 9.3.2.

Hi,
Many times either the program will not work if you delete an earlier update or version. One also might be the original file and the other an update - then you must keep them both for it to work.

Try downloading 'CCLEANER' it is free - just say no when asked to donate - then you can donate later if you like it. IT is FREE --
download -READ the instructions and run CCLEANER - run the tools - - there are more than one and then your pc will run faster too. you can run the remove program in CCLEANER too. I use it - it is great.
Let me know if you need further instructions.

Since installing the latest version of adobe reader, the software crashes when trying to open pdf files...'not responding' error.

De-install Adobe reader & re-install - some problem occurred during download or installation.

To de-install (under Windows XP):
START > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs or Windows Components > highlight
"Adobe Reader X" > L-click "Remove" (button)

Download & install Adobe Reader per the manufacturer's instructions.

Need to delete Adobe Reader 7.0.9 so I can reinstall latest Versi

I was able to remove Adobe 7.0.9 by getting feed back from "question to google crowd"!
1. I had to download a program that removed the "setup" from the Adobe 7.0.9 on my computer.
2.I then downloaded Adobe 8.1 (with the understanding that since "7.0.9" now had no setup instructions" there would be no problem with the "8.1" download) -
3.Once "8.1" was downloaded I went to "ADD/REMOVE" and removed "7.0.9" - this time it worked just fine - no message that I had to find a folder with "7.0.9" .
4.After removing "7.0.9" I removed "8.1" with the ADD/REMOVE program;
5.All Adobe was removed from the computer..I then downloaded ADOBE 9 from Adobe's website.
6.I went to my portfolio to check it out and the pages came up without a hitch.
Goodluck to those who have had a similar problem.

Cannot use reader 8.0,cannot remove it or install 9.0

oddly enough, you may find that updating the version 8.0 you have to 8.x will then allow you to remove it (or it will work correctly) can you open the reader manually in the programs list? if so open it, then go to help and check for updates. apply the updates. If they work you should be in good shape.

When trying to open adobe reader 8.1.1 get following message: patch package could not be opened. verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify...

it sounds like the application that is needed to uninstall the version 8 is corrupted or missing. Try reinstalling version 8 first then uninstall it before loading version 9. If you can reinstall version 8 and it asks you if you want to repair or install, choose install to get all of the files back before uninstalling it again. Always uninstall from add/remove programs. If deleting it from program files instead of uninstalling it correctly it will cause problems.
