To open the lid you need to remove the rubber stops to access the screws.
once the screws have been removed you can gently remove the bezel (the plastic suround).
you can now access the screws on the side of the screen to release the screen from the hinges.
DO NOT TOUCH THE TOP SECTION OF THE SCREEN
you can now bring the screen a little forward the access the video cable.
Once here make sure the video cable is secure.
Honestly !! I dont believe this will solve your problem as most times when lines appear on the screen, it usally indicates the screen is on the way out

Can laptop screen spider crack without being dropped?

Hello,

One of a few things may have happened. When the laptop was closed last, there may have been something on the keyboard (pen, toothpick etc) that could have caused the crack - The laptop may have received an impact that she was not aware of - the crack may have been pre-existing (cracked slightly a while ago) and finally gave way. Here's something else I have encountered......When she opens and closes the laptop, does she usually lift the lcd from one corner only, both corners at the same time, or from the centre? If you open a laptop by one corner of the lcd only, you are flexing the lcd every time, and this can weaken it and eventually cause a crack. Also, if you try to open the laptop from one corner, and the lid is still latched, this flexes the lcd as well. Anyhow, Unless your warranty will cover it, go to www.laptopscreens.com
and order a new lcd panel. I have ordered from this site a few times now, and their prices are by far the best I have ever seen ($80 average). Order the screen, and if you're not comfortable installing it yourself, take it to a good service shop and have it done.

Hope this helps!

Dropped iphone screen cracked line across bottom of screen will not unlock now

You must change screen and digitizer. This will cost about 70$ if you open it by yourself.

If you open it up:

1. You need small screwdriver
2. Suction cup, smaller the better.
3. Small "sharp" object possibly plastic if you have.

4. Now start by opening the 2 screws bottom of the phone.
5. Use suction cup on the screen AND SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY lift it up.
6. There are connectors (flexes) you must use small object to get those open.
7 Now the screen and digitizer is out.

8. Start going back and put the new digitizer in place. Remember to put those flexes back on.

Hope it helps.

The screen display disappears completely or breaks up and only half of view is visible. It usually sorts itself for a while and then disappears again

Hello,

there is nothing wrong with your screen, the problem is from the flex that connects your screen to the phone's main board. This flex must have worn out that's why your screen is not displaying any picture.

The problem is common with flip and slide phones. The flex gets worn out as a result of constant opening and close of the flip or slide phone.

I would urge you to replace the flex and I am assuring you that your screen will display picture again. You might also be lucky to find out that the flex is not well fix, that is, it may have loosed contact.

If you cannot change the flex yourself, maybe you should take the phone to a local repairer within your vicinity, so that the flex can be fixed/replaced.

Good luck.

I closed the lid of my laptop then opened it again and very thin horizontal line appeared across the screen about a quarter of the way up from the bottom

try very gently flexing the lid, does this help/change the screen.
The ribbon cable from your screen to the motherboard may be loose and you will need to push it in properly.
Check your support page for a manual on your laptop.
Usually there will be some rubber bungs over the screws needed to take the front of the bezel around your screen off.
you may be able to see where the ribbon cable ataches to the motherboard.
goodluck

The colour on my PSP screen is gone there is also a line across it

Hello,

Thank you for using Fixya!

If the LCD screen has a line across it, then it possible that your LCD is going bad. If you know how to open it see if the flex is still connected properly from the LCD to the PSP board. If not, I would suggest taking it to the repair shop if it can't be fix by the flex (cable that connects the LCD to the board) then this needs to be replace.

If you PSP is still under warranty then it best to have Sony fix this for you, they can even replace this with a new one or a refurbish one.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

I'll bet you have vertical output IC with some pins not soldered. This IC ( integrated circuit) is a "chip" that makes the picture fill out from top to bottom. After a period of time heat will cause the pins to crack loose on the circuit board. You need to have a tech check it for you. Stargazer
