Question about Gateway GT4024 PC Desktop

1 Answer

My computer is having connectivity issues. At times I get online ok,but often I get a notice "acquiring network address" or "limited or no connectivity". I know the computer & modem are not communicating. I have reconfigured the modem, changed the ethernet cable, and updated the network adapters.I even downloaded PCPitstop to optimize my system, yet the problem continues.Any ideas?

Check your firewall settings. They may be blocking access.

You're firewall being on could be blocking your internet connection. You would need to set the firewall to allow the connection. Try turning off your firewall temporarily and check to see if you can connect. If you can, your firewall will need to be set to allow it. Or just change the firewall settings and leave it on.

My Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945BG Network Connection , has a limited connectivity to the internet

Sometime when you switch on the computer and the wireless router (if you turn it off after using it) the computer does not get an IP address from the router in time when the computer finishes booting up. This problem may not occur all the time.
When you get the limited connectivity error, then right click on the wireless connection icon on the Task Bar and click REPAIR. This will get the wireless router to issue the wireless card an IP address.
Then you will have proper Internet connection.

Hi,
You can first disconnect ur network name form router and then give a static ip in the range of the router on the wireless n/w connection of ur computer and then try to reconnect. Computer will automatically pick up the address and get u online, if problem still persists then reboot the comp once.

if you are using the dell wireless utility to manage your card, then disable it, and manage your wireless adapter through the windows network connections. that way the wpa issue will be solved by windows xp wpa. i had a similar problem with my inspiron 1525 (dell wireless 1395)

Cannot acquire network address from access point

then it seems thatb the wireless security key for your network is incorrect, make sure if you are entering the key correctly..
or else..
check if you are able to go online with the router wired first, if yes, then the w/ls settings has to be checked..open your w/ls network connection, remove your preferred wireless network and then try to reconnect again and check.. if you are not able to gon online wired with the router, disconnect power cables from modem- router , wait for 10 sec, and reconnect it , wait till all the lights come up and then reconnect, check if you are able to go online if not your router has to be reconfigured,,

plz check and revert back in case of any issues
