Hello,

You said it is still on warranty, i would suggest you return to the dealer for diagnoses or perhaps replacement, this is the best thing for you to do, because, it will save you money for repair and be rest assured that the your LCD monitor as not be tampered by an illegal person.

Take it back to the dealer to help diagnose and fix the problem since you are not losing anything, it will be better to return it.

Take care.

How can i fix a screen that is partially white and black with colored lines going across. U can see some of the desktop but very little.

My only suggestion is to determine if the issue is the Monitor or the Video Card. The easiest way to test this is to take the monitor over to another working computer and attach it there if the monitor works great on the good machine and does not do the same thing then you will need to replace the video card on your computer if it does the same thing the monitor is in question.
This cannot be repaired by you unless you are a tech, only by a qualified repair shop if you have a warranty send it in and get it repaired. But first determine which is bad. Hopefully it is the video card. Also test the video by placing a working monitor to the computer in question. If the monitor "The Working One" turns on a the display is good. Then you will know it is the Monitor going bad. I do know that this is something none of us want to read or think about it is what it is a machine. Sometimes they break down. And eventually they break down period. Even new this can happen. Thanks for using FixYa! please post a comment if your issue was resolved or repost for further answers. John

My monitor turns then goes dark after short time if i tun it off and again turn it on it show then go dark again.

I suppose it COULD be the VGA cable. However, if that cable worked when you plugged in the other monitor then it is extremely unlikely that this is the cause.

It sounds like the backlight within the LCD is about to die. I have encountered a few which did the same thing as you explain... The LCD seems fine for a minute and then goes black or displays very faint, dark text and images.

Sadly if your LCD is four years old it is probably out of warranty coverage.

If you have plugged in a different monitor than the one giving you problems and everything is fine, then that tells you that there is something wrong with the monitor. I personally think it has hardware failure. Sorry friend, my suggestion is to purchase another as repair would cost you more than the hardware is worth. I never like to recommend spending money but I think it's your only option in this case. You have ruled everything else out and it looks like the LCD is your issue.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or if you would like me to clarify anything.

Good luck! thumbsup.gif

I bought my emprex monitor 3 yrs back. For all these years it had worked its best. But now, when the computer is powered on, the screen flickers by producing small poping sound and goes black...please...

Yes it can be repaired usually just easier to by a new one. it sounds to me like it is a power supply for the monitor. The only hard thing would be getting the power supply for the monitor. Your can try contacting the manufacturer for it :) hop this helps

Black marks on screen i think it needs a degaus but dont know how to do it

LCD monitors do not need degaussing. They operate in a completely way to CRT monitors.
Tiny black marks are most likely dead pixels, if the black marks are large then the LCD screen may be damaged (cracked glass).
This type of damage cannot be repaired simply, the screen needs to be replaced.
I suggest you put your money towards a new LCD monitor.

While I was using my hannspree hf289h, it just turned off and won't power up anymore. Is it broken, or can I reset it or something?

christerfred, I would think that if it TURNED OFF all by itself, and no matter how many times you push the on/off switch it remains in the OFF state, I certainly think it's BROKE. In fact I think that the "switch-mode-power-supply" may be in permanent SHUTDOWN mode. Here is a clue! When strange things happen to an LCD display, the first place to look is the power supply, be it a SMPS that lives on the floor or resides inside the plastic case of the monitor. I have worked on a few LCD displays and repaired a few of them. But I have never come across a magical "let it work" reset button. If Hannspree won't do anything in the way of warranty work, then go watch some of the longer video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" and "LCD repair" @ YOUTUBE just so that you will know what is up with all the LCD monitors (all brands) that now have BLACK and LIFELESS lcd panels. Also do a visit to www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm and www.badcaps.net for additional info. You will also need to do a search for the "LCD flashlight test" to evaluate the state of your Hannspree SMPS. After doing the above, get back here and tell me what you want to do. If you feel that the information received at fixya was helpful, please rate this response at fixya. I'm louie12fix on fixya bye for now.

Broken LCD

To me it looks terrible and have no idea to repair it. I don't think you can fix it. How did get the screen broken? I used to repair a monitor from Dell. The CCFL lamps inside are broken. My screen is still OK. I would suggest that a new screen is a better choice for you if you have enough budget.
Thank you

Repair Help

Hi the FIRST thing I would do is, check the Lamp(s) and see if they are OK.. Next replace ALL the Electrolytic Capacitors in the Power Supply section.. with same or Better temperature ratings. Esspecially any by any Heatsinks or the like. If this don't sort ya problem, it may not B worth continuing?
