Speed & track display

I've had a lowrance 3500C for a few years from new and never managed to get it to register speed & track on main pages...they just display zero. I have to go into trip calculator to get this information. Any thoughts?

I have a 3500C and am facing the same problem. The position is acquired but the speed displays 0.00mph. Did you find anything about how to fix this problem?

Does the x510c have a speed and temp transducer or just the paddle seperately

Hi Rick

There is only one transducer. for speed/temperature. From page 2 of the owner's manual (see link below)
"A single-frequency with built-in temperature
sensor is packed with the X-510c"

Hope this helps and happy boating!
-Steve

Hi, whenever I power off my lowrance 125 it defaults the settings and I constantly have to change them every time I turn it back on, also the speed read out on the top left remains at 0 kts, however I do...

These units have internal batteries that power a small bubble memory that remarks your settings. I would conclude that this battery is dead. The result being your unit forgets your settings every time you turn it off.
Possibly a faulty speed wheel on your unit as to why the system no longer registers speed.
Try recalibration the speed. http://www.lowrance.com/Root/Lowrance.../x136df_0151-171_112003.pdf

20 miles an hour off.if i am doing 55mph speedometer isdoing75mph.

1990 Lumina instrument panels are notorious for going out, your speed will register higher than what your really traveling, and your tach will eventually start acting crazy and go out all together, its expensive to replace, around $500 last time I checked a few years ago, so given the devaluation of your car as in the case of my Lumina, I purchased a $100 GPS thats tracks my speed by satellite, and it works like a charm, putting $500 into a car that is only worth $1200 is a hard pill to swallow, Hope this helps.

The Lowrance 3500C has a 1 GB capability. Does that mean I must purchase a 1 GB SD card for it? Can't find anything smaller than a 2 GB SD card, but will a 2 GB card cause problems?

No, this means the internal memory size is 1 GB. If this unit accepts SD cards, you can increase the map capacity. 2GB SD cards should work properly in the unit.

Hello- My 332c will not show speed. It worked before. The spinner wheel is not damaged.Speed just flashes 0.00 mph Thanks, Jeff

Try setting up the speed in the overlay data menu again:
1. Press MENU, arrow down to OVERLAY DATA and press ENT
2. Highlight the option for speed (WATER SPEED or GROUND SPEED) and press ENT
3. Highlight the REMOVE button and press ENT
4. Highlight (PRESS ENT TO ADD) and press ENT
5. Arrow down to SONAR DATA and press ENT
6. Arrow down to WATER SPEED and press ENT, a check will be displayed in the box
7. Press EXIT twice

If the speed is still flashing, the data is still invalid. Try resetting the unit completely:
1. Turn unit off
2. Press and hold the PAGES and POWER key until the "DO NOT RELY..." alarm appears
3. Set up the overlay data for speed again: 1. Press MENU, arrow down to OVERLAY DATA and press ENT; 2. Highlight (PRESS ENT TO ADD) and press ENT; 3. Arrow down to SONAR DATA and press ENT; 4. Arrow down to WATER SPEED and press ENT, a check will be displayed in the box; 5. Press EXIT twice

If the speed is still flashing, good chance the speed sensor is bad even though the wheel still spins. Install the latest LMS-332 updates from http://www.lowrance.com/en/Products/Marine/Full-Size-SonarGPS-Chartplotter-Combos/LMS-332C/Downloads/LMS-332C-Software-Update/ and set up the overlay data again.

If it turns out that the speed sensor is bad, just use speed from the GPS. This can be set up from the overlay data menu as GROUND SPEED.

(note: the overlay data must be set up for each page individually. So if you set up speed to be displayed on the map screen, it will not also be set up on the sonar page)

Lowrance not reading navionic

Make sure that the 5200c is set to read the Navionic card. You can set that under Map Data.

Cannot access main menu or pages screen

I think I can help with your issue. I have an LMS 334c and have had a few issues in the past. Called the factory (this answer is not listed any where in your manual) and they instructed me to "Soft Re Boot" my unit and it would put everything back to factory settings. Try this anytime it does not respond for whatever reason.

Turn the unit off.

At the same time press the Pages and Power button. Hold both down until you see the square box come up in the screen. You should have your factory settings again. May need to try a few times.
Lowrance said it works just like a computer, ever now and then it just tries to disect to much information at one time and hangs up.
Good luck. James Cantwell
