Learning to playbluegrassmusic on my guitar, and learning how to sing bass......

Most of the bluegrass is in your thumb, you play the bass strings with your thumb, and leave the rest of the job for the rest of your finger. Johnny Cash and Mark Knopfler are the two dudes who opened my eyes to bluegrass rythms. Also Johnny Can help you a lot on those bass tones try singing daily as deep as you can but don't stretch it out, just as much as you feel comfortable everyday and after a while you'll get the Barry White kinda bass sounds. And for the bluegrass thing just check the internet out there are tons of high quality in depth reviews of the thumb picking style, and try playing to a four bar backing drum track and follow it up with your thumb. And that's the rule of the thumb.

How do i adjust intonation on a peavey predator plus exp?

To adjust the intonation on a guitar you need the following. ..
a electronic tuner
and a small philip screwdriver

when you tune a string say low E you play the note open and adjust tell it's in tune
then to intonate play the low E at the 12th fret
producing a Harmonic, view the tuner it will be sharp or flat,
turn the small philip screw on the bridge adjustment
it only takes a small turn one way or the other so go slow
once the string is tuned at the harmonic note check to see if it's in tune played open, keep tuning and adjusting tell the strings are in tune open and at the 12th fret on all six strings
once intonation is set properly the guitar will sound better
really hope that helps?

Bridge: the guitar keeps getting out of tune. Should I block it with a piece of wood, making it more like a fixed bridge?

Do NOT modify the guitar. Take it to a shop where they can set it up properly if you are having intonation or clearance problems. Also the quality of strings has a lot to do with changes in tuning. It is NOT uncommon for a guitar to require tuning during a half hour of playing. This is normal, especially if you are really driving it. Temperature affects the tuning drastically as well.

The only way i can tune is if i have absolute silence in my practice area. if the bass, drums or lead guitar player are just playing barely it throws the tuner completely off. is this a common problem or...

Common problem... your strings wil be excited by the surrounding noise... If you cut the gain down on your guitar to a minimum needed for the tuner to see it, that should help. If you have an acoustic guitar, the pickups in those are really sensitive to local noise and you may not be able to tune if there is much going on.

Washburn guitar B and high E string sound real buzzy-tinny. am fretting it clean. It just started doing it. Any Help?

Probably time for string replacement !!! They do go bad...

Get a set and try the E string... if it fixes that one, change ALL the strings at one sitting, but do them one at a time and tune each as you go... this keeps the tension and minimizes the interaction when you do the final tuning.

What kind of strings are best for washburn X 10

the washburn X10 is an electric guitar.

first thing you you want to make sure of is that you ask for electric guitar strings

next consider what kind of music your are playing...

heavier music or really moody warm tones your going to want thicker strings

med to heavy guage

if you want clear crisp tones than go with lighter guage

light to med

lighter guages are also easier on the finger tips.

the sizes usually refer the the smallest string on the bottom or the first string.

9 is the light 10-11 is med 12 is heavy

you might also want to consider nylon coated strings

they last longer

have great tone

easy on the fnger tips

but they cost more

My Dean razorback V Standard keeps going out of tune and I have no clue how to fix it.

First, I don't know how long you've been playing guitar but you need to make sure the strings aren't old and/or not kept clean. The oils and skin cells from our fingers will cause strings to break down in there elasticity, therefore causing them to lose there retention (eg. memory). If you have a locking system with floating bridge then make sure your locks are tight, but not to tight as to strip or break the screws. Next, if you have a cheaper guitar, like in the $250 range, you will experience this more often than not, especially if you don't have a locking system. But just remember that guitars have to be retuned all the time (just watch live video of guitarists like Jimmy Page and Angus Young, etc.) if you play a lot and really play the instrument to the fullest (eg. Dive Bombs, EVH Horsie, Pitch Bends, etc.). Also, when you put on new strings they need time to stretch before they find that place where they retain their memory so it's a good idea to play and stretch the strings using various techniques like bending and whammy (EVH has been known to boil his strings to aid in this). Last, but not quite the least, if you find your guitar going out of tune after just a few minutes and after all my suggestions then your guitar may have a problem with its INTONATION, which you'll need to take it to a guitar technician which won't cost much and you'll be very happy with the sound. One last thing to remember, if you have a cheaper guitar without locking system they're really not capable or designed for using the whammy bar that comes with most of them---this is just a feature for helping to sell the guitar because everyone wants a whammy bar---the guitar will go considerably out of tune everytime it's used. Hope this long explanation helps.
