Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Our Zebra 105SE (using a zebra 105SL driver...not sure if that's part of the problem). The lines on my barcode print so close together that they look like solid fat lines instead of 2 or 3 individual lines. On our 105SL's I just changed the Print Speed and it seemed to "sharpen" the barcode. But that isn't working on the 105SE printer.

My Zebra 105Se printer keeps printing blank labels

There are several reasons why this could be happening. If the computer accessing the printer changed then I assume the new computer was recently set up with software to send print information to the printer. I would start with simple calibration and move from there. Zebra Technologies 105SL Printer Calibrating the Printer With Video

Darker print

Enter the Setup Menu from control panel and modify the Darkness value. You have to increase the value and then Save the changes and exit the menu. On control panel Buttons you find the role of each button in the control panel. You can use the User Manual. There is an User Manual available for download from Zebra website. You will find there precious information. The manual is very explicit and you will learn how to maintain your printer and how to troubleshoot some common errors. Eventually clean your printer, assure to put the supplies on the right path, close the printhead and press Pause to enter in Ready state.

Skipping labels

Do you use adhesive labels? It looks like the printer is unable to make the difference betwen the labels. Verify that the printer it's not set on Continuous mode for the media type. Verify if there is any label (or pice of label) stiked on the upper media sensor (gap sensor). You can locate the upper media sensor using the User Manual (page 74). You can clean the sensor with an coton cloth dampened into isopropylic alcohol.

Zebra 105SL print only half of label

This can happen if your page size in your driver is not set to the actual label size. It can happen if you have old .dll driver files mixed with your mew driver installation.

This is what I would do:
Uninstall the driver completely - delete the icon in Printers and Faxes. Drop down the file menu there and choose server properties and remove the driver for all Zebra printers from the Drivers tab. Go into the LCD menu of the printer and load defaults. Go back into the LCD meny and look at the page width setting. Your printer has 300 dots per inch, so a 4 inch label would be 1200 dots wide.

Another thing to consider is that you may be trying to printer to a 300 dpi printer from a 203 dpi driver. Make sure that you choose 300dpi when you reinstall. This should work.... If not, repost with more details about your application and driver. I can assure you that this is not a printer problem unless half of your printhead has failed.... unlikely, but possible....

How many labels has the printer printed? Because it sounds to me like you just need to replace the print head.

They are around $400 from whomever your supplier is, and very easy to replace.

Zebra 105 SE Printing Blank Labels

You need the correct driver for the 105Se. The 300 dpi SL driver is not compatible.

Unfortunately, Zebra does not make it's older drivers available online. You will need to locacte someone with the correct driver for whichever version of Windows you are using.
