Though i don not know which method you used to install u'r XP but i guess u clearred everything from the harddisk and did a new installation. in that case i would like u to give me these details,

1. Make and model of your machine.
2. Is it a Desktop, Laptop or notebook
eg: HP compaq Pressario Nx 5110 notebook

My compaq laptop sound has working fine till yesterday...suddenly it stopped working...what might be the problem?

First the obvious.

Check and make sure the volume is not on mute and it is turned all the way up. Also check the sound properties through the Control Panel and make sure all the volume knobs are turned up.

The not-so-obvious

Check the device manager to see if there are any warnings in the section called 'Sound, video, and game controllers'. The best way to access the Device Manager is to click Start, right-click Computer(Windows 7) or My Computer(Windows XP) and click Manage. The computer management screen will come up and you'll click on Device Manager. If there is a red X or a yellow ! then run windows updates and see if there are any hardware drivers needing downloaded.

Hope this helps!

My skype is telling me i needs to access my sound card and cant. my itunes isnt working either. This was all just all of a sudden. I dont know what to do.

click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager any yellow? ! question marks or red x will tell you that you need to reinstall the driver/s for this device
to do this right click on the ? x ! select reinstall driver
the drivers might have been corrupted by something or you might have got a virus run your antivrus program
as for the sound
control panel sounds and audio, volume you can adjust the volume or advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have selected the right speakers also
control panel, administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll to sound, video and game cotrollers could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers

hope this helps

Dear sir, Recently i've bought a Tascam US-1641. I'm trying to get it to be installed but that seems not to work. I have followed the instructions for installing the driver of the Tascam US-1641, and i do...

You should go to

Start\Control Panel\AllPrograms\TASCAM\US-1641 Control Panel\Settings

Where you can adjust which controls you can see and how they behave.

Can you check what version of the Realtek driver you are running? Go to the system section under control panel and select device manager.

Beyond that you can go into the audio devices section in the control panel to ensure that your device isn't muted.

Please post some more details and we'll fix you up (Apple comments not withstanding)...
