Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Panasonic EH100 HDD/DVD recorder. Yesterday I left it on for several hours playing a DVD when I realised I switched it off. Shortly afterwards I turned it on to watch a program and it went into a Self Check loop. It now keeps repeating the start up "self check" sequence. I have tried unplugging in and plugging back in and holding various buttons on the front panel which makes no difference apart from the on button which can make it switch off. Any ideas?

Holding certain buttons down at power up can activate unintended test modes. Wrong sequence can lock up processor! Unplug and let sit for 24 hours to re-set processor. Turn set on as normal. If you can, remove DVD before this procedure to avoid reading at start up

How do I stop my Panasonic DMR-EH75V DVD Recorder from automatically turnig itself off after 75 seconds?

It could be overheating.. Is it fairly consistent at 75 seconds? To test put the unit in the fridge for 30 minutes then quickly connect it up and test. If it is longer then 75 seconds then something is getting to hot. I've put hard drives (especially laptop ones) in the freezer if I need to copy off data but it clicks/stops working at room temp.

Recording from DVD recorder to disc

Christine,

1) Put a compatible DVD in the tray. (I have noticed that I must format DVD+R discs, but others are formatted okay for recording -- such as DVD-R and DVD RW)
2) Close the tray.
3) Make sure the player is set to HDD and not to DVD. It will indicate HDD, DVD, or SD on the LCD screen.
4) Using the remote press the "functions" button.
5) Select "copy" from the menu when it appears.
6) You will now see the list of programs you have recorded to the HDD. Highlight the one you want to copy and press "Enter" on the remote.
7) I think there are two confirmation screens that come up, press start or continue or whatever it says.
8) My recorder generally takes about 14 minutes at high speed to copy a two-hour program. If the program is longer than 2- hours, you must divide it into tow or more shorter segments for more than one DVD.
9) If you want to select several shorter programs (not to exceed 2-hours combined) highlight the programs individually pressing the PAUSE button on the remote. This places a check mark next to each of the programs. When you finish, press the enter button on the remote and go through the confirmations screens again.
10) If the DVD is nor rewritable, it will automatically run the "finalize" program. It takes about 3 minutes and runs after recording. This formats the DVD so that it can be played in non-Panasonic players. If it is a DVD-RW, they you must finalize it manually if you want to watch it on other types of players.

Hope this helps,

Nancy

Panasonic dmr-eh57 multi-region unlock code

I sent an e-mail to Panasonic New Zealand to ask about this, and they advised:
"Panasonic NZ no longer pre set DVD recorders or players for all region multi-zones.
However, we will multi-zone for all regions on request. This needs to be done by an Authorised Service Centre, as a special service remote is used. Once delivered to one of these agents, the service company will charge the fee to Panasonic NZ."

If you're not in NZ, try contacting Panasonic in your own country. Just call up www.panasonic with your country code after eg. US = .com and NZ = .co.nz. It seems a *lot* easier than all those complicated hacks on the net. Now all I have to do is work out how to disconnect my DVD recorder again, and try to

PS. I realise this question is 11 months old by now, but I hope my response helps someone like me just cruising the internet looking for help.
