Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

Removed DM module....had capacitors checked via meter, and they showed "good". Should I still proceed with the replacement? Is it all over? "~ Mike

Thanks for your quick response, Shaun. At this stage, I have everything disassembled, and your "trick" would require me to put it back to a state to plug in again.
The person who tested the capacitors has a small repair place, and would have gotten my business, but said they were OK. I am assuming he knows how to test.
I really need this TV to hold on right now, as I have not worked for a year and am strapped for $$.
I am willing to replace the caps as a fix if there is a possibility that testing would not show a weakness.

Any additional help here? THX "~ Mike

Constant blinking green light on Mitsubishi WS-65909 TV. Replaced the 7 Capacitors on the DM module and re-installed into the tv, plugged in and the same blinking green light problem is happening. Is

This is a V19 chassis, circa 2002

If all capacitors were replaced correctly & all caps with bulging tops were replaced, It sounds like you may have other issues on the DM pcb. Possibly defective ICs. That would be the E2P module (a small pcb which plugs directly onto the DM pcb), which is specific to your particular model & serial#

Several years ago the only way to get the E2P, was thru the manufacturer, they also, used to make a kit that you could replace those ICs yourself. Those pcbs & kits were limited. So all I can do is wish you much luck if that is the problem.

At this point I would double & triple check the replacement of your capacitors.

We lost power the other night. Now I have a continuous green blinking light and it won't turn on. I have tried everything the manual says.

Try Going To The Mitsubishi Web Site. Downloading The Mitsubishi Service Manuals If You Don't Already Have It. It Will recommend The parts You Need To ordering. Circuit board photos are also shown which provide a visual reference during the repair process.

If you decide to have a service technician do the repair, insist that the "DM" module is removed from the TV and ONLY the four 1000uF, 16V Capacitors (Caps) located on the DM Module are replaced. MOST techincians will INSIST on replacing the entire DM Module and not simply the capacitors. The cost is about $200 for a technician to replace the capacitors and $1000 for replacement of the DM Module. As you will read below, doing the repair yourself will cost less than $4.00 for the 4 Caps.

hi friend,
Repairing It Yourself
If you decide to repair the TV yourself, I recommend that you obtain a copy of the repair manual for your Mitsubishi TV from the Techlore website by going to Mitsubishi Service Manual. It will provide some direction, however it is technically written and may be difficult for the NOVICE to understand. If you are unable to locate the the service manual for your specific Model at the above Techlore link, you may need to purchase the service manual online at ServiceManuals.net.
A Few "Cautions"
  1. Keep yourself "grounded" when working with the circuit board. Static electricity will destroy electronic components.
  2. When replacing the Capacitors, press them "down" onto the circuit board as far as they will go, hold them down, solder into place and clip the excess terminal lengths flush with solder. Only by doing this will the metal shield (little silver box) slide down and over the circuit board during re-assembly. There is not a lot of clearance when doing this, as the 105C Capacitors are slightly longer that the originals. With minimal effort everything does fit back together.
  3. Use ONLY 105º C capacitors with a voltage rating of 35 V.
  4. Re-insert the DM circuit board into the Mother board; press virmly and ensure a proper seat of the DM board. Next, slide the metal case down and over the DM circuit board. Refer to my "Lesson Learned."
Basic Troubleshooting
  1. Press the "reset" button and hold for 10 seconds .... Does TV turn on and blinking green light turn to solid green.
  2. Unplug the TV from it's power source for various times, ranging between 5 minutes and 24 hours..... Does blinking green light continue upon plugging in the TV.
  3. Disconnect ALL devices from the TV; DVD, Tuner, Cable Box, unplug the TV for various duration times .... Does blinking green light continues upon plugging in the TV.
  4. Press Power and Menu buttons simultaneously and hold depressed for 20 seconds .... Does blinking green light continue to flash.
  5. Press Power and Display buttons simultaneously and hold depressed for 20 seconds .... Does blinking green light continue to flash.
  6. Insure that no front panel buttons are inadvertently stuck in an "engaged" position.
Diagnosis: If none of the above test resolve the issue, then the failure lies in one of the following:
  1. DM Module Capacitors have FAILED.
  2. DM Module is defective.
  3. EEPROM Board failure
  4. Power Supply failure.
hope this helps u

Mitsubishi ws-55613 green light blings rapidly and TV will not come on.

The DM module has bad capacitors in it and these will need to be replaced, or the DM module replaced.(about 85% of the time, the caps WILL fix them though...) A good shop should be able to rebulid your module for about 300-400 in the home.

Green light flikering

Replace all 7 capacitors in the DM Module on the DM Power Supply Board. If it is similar to the WS-65869 and WS-65513 it will have a metal enclosed DM Module at far left of chassis, looking from rear. About 4 or 5 connectors, screws, and Module slides out. Take top shield off. Take good notes or use digital camera or video recorder to make re-assembly easy. These capacitors are 1000uf@16 volts. They always check good, just replace them! After re-assembly plug AC in and wait 90 seconds or more (green Timer LED will stop blinking), then press Power button. If Timer LED doesn't stop, look for small pinhole (System Reset) and press switch with pen or small screwdriver, then wait for green LED to stop blinking. Then Power On TV.

Mitsubishi ED-52631 does not turn on

Hello Getoxygen,

This sounds like a DM problem. To repair this you will have to replace 4 or 7 capacitors (1000uf 35v).
Here are the instructions. Depending on your set this may differ a bit, but the central theme is getting the DM free to be worked on.

This was taken from a TV repair site used by TV technicians.

STEP 1) The DM Module loose. But itcan't be rotate out because of the upper plastic guide.

STEP2) How the DM Module is rotated out of the TV case. Allow thewires
entering the DM Module to be an axis point of the rotation. That way they barely move and don't get snagged or stretched.

STEP3) The DM Module out and the side cover of the metal housing removed.

STEP 4) My setup to do the soldering work.

STEP5) Up Close of the daughter board and the seven capacitors on
MitsWS-55859.

STEP 6) The daughter board unscrewed and flippedover where you will be soldering.

STEP 7) The UpperPlastic Guide that must be removed to rotate the DM Module out of theTV set.

STEP 8) Get this wooden horizontal shelf out (4screws) and getting the upper plastic guide out becomes easy.

STEP9) Helpful Hint about the wooden shelf and the platic guide that bothneed to be removed.

I hope this helps
Thank you,

The DM board is the one with the digital connectors on the back panel. If you already have it appart, you may as well check the caps on all of the boards. The caps that go bad are typically Jamicon brand caps in 1000 uF and 330 uF values. There are also a couple of 3300 uF caps in the PS that cause problems.
