Question about Acer AL1913 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Blueish flickering My acer AL1913 19" screen has worked fine for a few years, but within the past half year or so, sometimes it starts to flicker a blueish tint, than stays like that. Than, just as random as it flickered to that tint, it will flicker back 5 minutes later here or there. It's an intermitant problem that happens randomly. The auto-adjust does nothing. I have 2 towers atached to it via a KVM switch, and it does it on both. So i am pretty sure it's the monitor, and not both systems. Although i recently noticed it has been doing it on my newer computer more often.. could be just a coincidence. Also, I noticed the problem started happening after i moved to a new place, maybe a month or so after i moved. The back of the screen is close to a window now, would sun have caused anything?? Also, the right speakers are closer to the monitor now, i heard of magnetism comming from speakers changing the tint of the monitor. But this rendomly?? help?

I have the same problem with my 19" LCD Monitor except mine is a Dell S199WFP. Just random blue tint flickering. Our Monitor is also placed near a window (hmm...). I tried moving the speakers two feet away and still have the same problem. I'm 99.9% sure that this is a monitor problem. Do LCD monitors have any replaceable fuses or other parts?

Can I fix a flickering band on VP2250wb?

It sounds like one of the backlights are going, or one of the inverter transformer and there are two capacitors near the inverter transformers that do give trouble. The monitor would need to be dismantled to investigate the problem and it will involve money, since it is four years old I would be inclined leave it alone until a new one is required.

I have noticed recently that the screen words flicker.

If the monitor is less than a year only, then your best bet is contact the manufacturer for warranty support.

Back ground screen flickering

If it flicker continually that may well be either the video card (hopefully not part of the motherboard) or the monitor. Your best bet is to tt on someone else's machine. If it does not flicker then you probably have a bad (or soon to be very bad) video card. If, your video card is built into your machine, don't give up....you can buy a video card and install it....they are not expensive if you are not a big time gamer. Price ranges are anywhere from $8-20 if you are a normal PC user. Pricewatch.com can give you some insight. You will need to know what type of slot you have available....presumably AGP (but PCI, if you have an open slot on the motherboard, will also work....AGP is faster.)

maybe ur screen was put into a lot of magnetic interference. so check for any magnetic rays emitting devices like speaker adapters etc. a simple check would be to degauss( its in the screen properties). raja
