Question about Insignia 32" 720p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I am currently trying to repair an Insignia TV that is not under warranty. The history of the problem is rather short. I was watching TV when suddenly there was no picture and no sound. The blue power light remained on.
Here is what I have done: I cycled power several times with varying time delays up to a few hours. The blue power light will illuminate but there is no picture and no sound. I attempted to change the input, but the MENU screen does not appear either. I opened up the back of the TV since I have nothing to lose other than breaking something that is already broken and tried to find what was wrong. I could not find any schematics online to guide me.
Here is my question: I am wanting to replace the main board (the larger of the two boards with all the video inputs on it). Here is why, I traced the wires from the speakers and what appears to be the video card at the top of the set and they all lead to this main board. All the video inputs such as the HDMI and PC jacks all lead to a main box. Before I drop money on this, is it sound logic to conclude that this main board is the only thing in common between the sound and picture and should be replaced? The system is getting power as evidence by the blue power light.
