Unless you have the reverse bar pressed down you will need to get the motor checked out

My machine will not sew in the forward position...It keeps sewing backwards like it is in reverse.....Need help ASAP

All sewing machines have a gear lever. This is so you can sew a seam forwards and backwards. Consult your manual.

Speed control

Welcome to the world of industrial machines. As you are discovering they are not like a home machine. Typically these machines have either a clutch motor or if you are lucky a servo motor.

If you have a clutch motor there is typically a knob that allows you to slow it down. Or sometimes the pully needs to be replaced to "step down the speed"

A digital servo motor is a bit more complicated and you'll need to find some instruction on how to use it. But they can be easier to control. I've provided a video of the servo motor I have and recommend. (I sew heavy leather)

I have 1 pdf somewhere for a smart servo motor that might help. If yours is a servo, be careful because I got mine to run backwards once. lol Good luck

My machines motor is running backwards... It won't sew this way and I don't know why it started doing this... Any ideas??? I was sewing and nothing of note happened, it just stopped picking up the bobbin...

It is unlikely the machine motor is running backwards it is more likely to be the reverse button or lever, have you checked it and if it is not picking up the thread have you cahnged the needle.

Is there a simple way to slow the speed down on a Juki DDL-8700??? My friend wants to sew, but it is way too fast for her .........any help would be appreciated.

On the motor where the clutch is you will see thge large pin with a nut on it, as you press on the pedal the pin engages with the motor, if you loosen the nut and unscrew the pin bit by bit and try the machine you will get to a point where you will have absolute control on the speed.
