Your owner's manual should give you full instructions on removing the mowing deck from your tractor....once it is off, should be a simple matter of turning the deck upright and removing the bolts which hold the blades to the spindles and replacing the blades..... ;-D

How do you set the mower blade height on a riding mower. The mower deck is set by the height adjuster but how about the blade

The blade height is not adjustable on any of the tractors I have worked on or owned. The blade seats against a shoulder on a spindle and held in place by a nut. Sometimes replacement blades are not shaped the same as the original and changes the blade cuttnig height but other than in those circustances there is no adjustment.

42 deck craftsman riding mower. how do you get blades off? md 91721880.

On most riding lawnmowers, you can remove the blades reaching underneath the deck while the deck is set to its highest position. This may not be possible on lawnmowers with three blades; however, most 42 inch mowers have two blades.

The blades are usually held on with either one or two bolts (on each blade). Oftentimes, too, there is a lock washer underneath the bolt.

If you have auto ramps, it might help to push the front end of the mower up on the ramps. This can give you more room to access the blade bolts.

If the blades have not been removed before, those bolts can be on really tight. You might need to use some kind of breaker bar on your wrench to give you more leverage.

How do you change the blades on a 40" riding lawnmower by murray?

Raise up the mower to give yourself access to the blades from the bottom side of the deck. Using a breaker bar or long ratchet and socket, remove the nut (either 7/8 or 15/16 can't remember which) and large flat washer from the shaft. Install the new blades in the reverse order.
If the blades turn while you are trying to "break" them free, you can use a small 2x4 block of wood or a c-clamp on the side of the deck to hold the blade from turning until the nut is freed up

Riding mower will barely move

Sounds like it time for a tuneup. Air filter changed, Spark plugs replace and oil changed, plus sharpen the blades while you are at it.

Changing blades on riding mower

Must be able to get to underneath side of deck obviously. If you do not have access to impact tools, it is usually easiest to remove the deck as you must keep the blades from turning. Place a block of wood to where it will jam the blade while attempting to turn the nut. (7/8" socket or wrench). Usually very tight, try some penetrating oil to help.
